My father caused me so much terror and trauma. I still live with my parents but I dread leaving as soon as possible. My father gaslights me, abuses me verbally, cusses me out in the most horrible way, threatens to hit me /kill me and alot of times he does hit me. As someone who has chronic illness, he says I'm always complaining and curses me if I don't do what he says when I'm ill even tho he knows I'm not capable. He acts like the perfect father to others but he's an absolute monster. I got depression, anxiety and chronic migraines because of him but unfortunately he doesn't understand and continues to push my buttons. Its so painful to be treated that way by your own family who instead of supporting you in your weakest point choose to shatter you and tear you down. I just feel soo alone and not understood. The wounds he caused keep getting deeper, it's like I don't even get time to heal from them. He never takes accountability for his actions and never apologizes. Following his violent behaviour towards me, he just speaks to me like nothing ever happened. He's happy with me only when I do what he says /obey his orders or when I succeed in something. I despise him and I'll never forgive him for all the hurt he caused me. May Allah punish him for what he did to me.

i don’t know how many times i cried because of things that my mom told me,it hurts and it’s sad to hear someone that’s supposed to make you feel loved call you such names,,she called me dumb,etc.. one time i fell and hurt my knee really bad to the point that i couldn’t walk,i asked her to help me and even though she knew i was hurting she pushed me because she thought it was funny and i just started crying from how much it hurt me. i cant wait to become old enough to move out of this house

Comments are showing how so many young people are suffering because of toxic parents. This is why some children should move out and live on their own. Such parents will know how it feels then when they are left alone. Most parents take their children for granted because they live 24/7 together and they get tired of each other. It's important to take a break sometimes and give each other the much needed space so children and parents understand one another's importance in their lives.

@username101 tba have you watched mufti Menk's video about how family gets irritable when they live with each other too long in the same house? Sometimes distance is best to fix relationships with parents. Moving out doesn't mean completely cutting off your connection with them. Now imagine if there was abuse going on not just irritation with each other. You might wanna go farrrr away from that because it can actually be destructive to your deen and your health, which idk if you have ever heard but taking care of one's health is also important in Islam. And moving out even just temporarily CAN be a solution, because it makes the parents as well as the children realize the importance/role of each other in their lives. And to value them and not take them for granted. If being good to parents comes after being good to God and the Prophet(ﷺ) then we must try our best to find a solution first rather than just sitting and not doing anything about it and destroying your own health and religion.

My parents made me work and I used to give 80 percent of my wages for Several years. He also never let me go uni and made me work so I can help him. When time came I was never in the inheritance. Still I look after my parents as one is near end of life but I still get abuse from them. It’s hard. I didn’t give up on them but got further into debt and today I’m struggling mentally and financially myself but trying to make my parents happy. Ended up with a mental disorder because they used to taunt me I will never succeed even though I care for them

Some parents say 'may this or that happen to you' when their child infuriates them or does something that they don't approve of. They don't realise that they are basically making a dua that something happens to their child. So when something does happen they're surprised and are unable to understand why it happened to their child. People should not tempt Allah with their words spoken in anger. Don't tempt Allah.

I have gone through worst. The motivation will not run in long way unless the abusive parents melts their heart but at the same time it's an eye opener and I am glad that you address this issue. Toxic parents affect the child mentally, physically, emotionally to the point even the child dont know how to think properly. Then how can he be optimistic?! I am a huge fan of you mufti menk. My dad did this to me for a long time. He would always curse at me in our language for the smallest thing yet. Sometimes when I make a big mistake I understand that it makes sense for him to yell at me but the worst part about this is that he always brings up other situations and things that i’ve done in the past which wasn’t really good and always compares them to the situation that we are in rn. I try to tell him my past situations does not have to do with what is in the present situation but he really doesn’t care and doesn’t listen to me( i have asian bengali parents). I try to stay really calm but when it comes to him bringing up alot of other stuff (more then 1 situation ive done in the past) then I start to get mad and yell at him. And I tried to tell him so many times that the situation in the past does not have to do with what we are facing right now. Alhamdulilah plz pray for me and thanks for reading my big comment😁.

Allah swt doesn't say you have to love parents. He knows whats in the everyone's hart. You just have to bear a lots of patience and be nice and respectful. I know it's hard but it is possible. The fact is that some parents behave and make for children really difficult to obey them and earn Jannah and this is so sad. If they really love their children their first goal would be to make it easy for them to earn Jannah. 😤😟

@@Sehara Well in Islam we say Jennah is under your mother's feet (at least wher I come from) and in Islam u always see how you have to love and respect your mother & father etc. so I'm not complete sure how I will end up because I don't love her at all. Parents need to heal from their traumas, appologize to their children and be the parents the way Islam teaches us. No one is allowed to opress anyone. Especially parents opressing their children.
