Didn’t you go into the Pantheon crypt? When were there was a Marie Curie exhibition that was exceptional. We, (my daughter, granddaughter and I) ended up at a chocolatier/cafe and was surprised to find out the owners were from Cannon Beach, Oregon, we live in Portland. There is also a library nearby that we took a guided tour of. The only way to see inside unless you are a student. Geez, I 💗 Paris!

I love the 5th so much! There are two places that I kind of fell in love with while we stayed there. One was the Abbey Bookstore. It’s a tiny little place that makes you feel like you’re in a shoppe in Diagon Alley. All of the books in there look like they are going to topple on you in these narrow little aisles. And second is the plaza outside Sorbonne. It has a few hotels, restaurants, a tabac.... and a Gap LoL.. but the low fountains framing the entrance to the university is a gorgeous view.

M Bonne Nouvelle. Salut Jay.

Hi Jay. I've really got hooked on your videos on You Tube. You answer a lot of questions I don't have to ask my friend who lived in Paris in the 1970s. I've been following your whereabouts with a slightly dated Michelin map of the city. You are so interesting, charming and funny. You're like a great friend to hang around with and have great times.with. I'm watching your earlier videos to see Paris as its best. They really get my mind off the pandemic. Your friends are a lot of fun. also, You show a lot of those special places only a resident would know. That's how I got to see New York City. I like your virtual tours because it like being there and not do all that walking. I'm interested in history, architecture ,literature and lots of things.so I'd appreciate a lot you show. You do look better with the full beard and should leave it grown out with an occasional trimming. I grew mine to save my face from constantly shaving a tough beard. I've started to what your videos on the Paris neighborhoods and I'll probably end up watching all of them. I didn't know you were riding that wheel device because I thought you were riding a bicycle. I also enjoy an occasional beer. What is the difference between French beer and American beer? Two things we have in Pittsburgh is a chapel which is a copy of Sainte Chapelle and a mansion that is a copy of the Grand Trianon at Versailles. Good luck on your writing and your task of becomig a dual citizen. Sincerely, Tim.

A few years back we rented an apartment on Rue Gracieuse, very close to the Place Monge and Rue Mouffetard. It's a great neighborhood, and the Place Monge market is wonderful if you have access to a kitchen and like to cook. It's a great thing to look out your window and see one of the iconic Parisian sites, but, at a certain point, a taste of the quotidian Parisian life becomes equally attractive. (That's one reason this vlog is so appealing.) For example, there was a vide-grenier in the neighborhood during our stay. Last year I reread Le père Goriot in French and was surprised to learn that our little apartment was very close to where Goriot lived. Balzac's description of the area is not complimentary.

Congratulations on your 500th invader!! Holy smokes, you had never been in Square René Viviani! I love that little park. Besides the great view of the Nôtre Dame, there are some of the carved stones from Nôtre Dame in there. The oldest tree in Paris is in there. Next time go to the back of the park and they saved an old well. It’s another pretty photo spot. In front of the church next to the park there are old stones from the Roman road. That church is the second oldest church in Paris. When I was in Paris in January I went to Circus Bakery. I love Italian style cappuccino’s. For me Circus Bakery had the best cappuccino I’ve had in Paris. That cinnamon bun is fantastic! I don’t like sourdough either but their breads are fantastic. They are making pizzas in the afternoon and evenings now as well. I liked them so much I was stopping by twice a day. I was staying in an apartment next to Odette that had a view of the Nôtre Dame so I was just about 30 seconds from Circus Bakery.

You got so many awesome shots/views (high up!), love the lines of trees in the Jardin des Plantes, so beautiful there. It is different when you must walk vs zipping on the wheel, have you ever taken the wheel when you travel? We saw a couple in a show in the Hague (tv) and one of them said, it was only 3-1/2 hrs fast train to Paris! One of the reasons I love Europe! (One of so many)... Merci for the 5th arrondissement Jay!

@thedavidguy015 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. Food poisoning while traveling is terrible. I got food poisoning from a restaurant in Rome from pancetta. The late Anthony Bourdain wrote that he would never eat mussels at a restaurant unless he knew the chef personally. On the other hand, I've eaten mussels in dozens of restaurants in multiple countries and never had a problem. I plan to eat mussels next month "en Bretagne." Wish me luck.
