Although I live in a poor country where people like me can't afford to travel around these significant places in rich countries, watching your documentary offers me a chance to turn my imagination into reality. Sitting in a room watching these videos makes me feel as if I am out there experiencing them live. Thank you Steve!

Rick Steves' videos are simply fantastic, such a performant mix of great pictures, and also great music, professionally produced, great narration, and often unusual details. As a pianist and also a passionate gourmet, the influence of his good taste goes like a red thread through all his videos.

I remember working for 3 weeks at the Palais de Justice. I regularly visited the Sainte-Chapelle and enjoyed sitting on the stone benches at the exit of the stairs. I watched the tourists enter the upper chapel with its unique stained glass windows and many had tears in their eyes, overwhelmed by the beauty of this place. Thank you Saint-Louis!

Over the years, my first book must have been in the 90s, I loved Rick Steve’s Travel guides for his interesting insights on historical cities, with a dash of humour! It makes reading entertaining and interesting ! I’m glad to discover that he has evolved into KZbin video guides now ! I visited Europe in 1985. My sister was in the US Airforce in West Germany 🇩🇪 . We went on the American bus tour of Paris. We went to the Galleries Lafayette. Being the typical American, I went up to this very pleasant French sales clerk. I asked her in my best French, "You all speak American?". Her expression went from pleasant to annoyed Parisienne in half a second. I just smiled and purchased a pair of sunglasses with French Francs. I had those sunglasses for years.

Don't understand the quip about a ''long medieval slumber''. How many universities were founded from the 11th to 14th centuries in Europe, from England to Prague so many were coming up. What were all the grand Romanesque and Gothic cathedrals made of sticks and mud? The castles, medieval palaces, the artworks. Even science and maths were being well developed in that supposed ''dark age''.
@LUIS-ox1bv Жыл бұрын
Rick Steve hould know better. The Medieval period saw advancements in engineering, architecture, the arts, music, and scholastics. The term, " Dark Ages," was a pejorative given to that period by those in the 18th century who despised anything that wasn't derivative of ancient Greece and Rome.
