Hello! Thanks you so much for the voisit to the Olympic village. You're a very friendly guy, as the Irish are, and I wish you and the Irish team all the best success in the Games. This comes from Finland, which is now in summertime rather a hot country, and we have a large team. We should be strong in athletics, especially in javelin and women's pole jumping. And the French have asked our help: there're two special trained dogs for detecting ammunion, bombs etc among the public. The other dog is called NALLI and it's A Black Lab whereas the other dog is a Belgian shepard Malinois, called Quattro. All the best, from an old auntie from Finland and it's Mahlanen, Soili Mahlanen :))

If needed, there's the brand new Line 14 which from the Olympic village can be taken at "Saint Denis Pleyel" (10 mn walk from your side of the Olympic village) and arrives at Bercy Arena in about 20 minutes. Standards Metro tickets are OK (as long as you don't go to the Orly Airport Station)

Can understand why countries aren’t keen on hosting anymore the costs must be insane, but still extremely impressive, all that organisation must be very complex

It all depends on what you want to do with the venues afterwards. If you're smart and have a plan, that's a great way to renovate a city and make it more "touristy-friendly".

one of the largest expense of the olympics actually is the village, but consider that one of the reason athletes get cardboard beds is because they are only supposed to stay for a few days. After that, rooms will be emptied and the entire village will be converted in student and low income apartments, which is very neat. OG are extremely expensive, but some cities, like London and Paris do try their best to actually make them worth their money, by mixing in the cost of already planned projects in the mix (village, metro lines, new public aquatic center...) and keeping already existing venues for the majority of their events

So fancy... At the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics our Olympic Village was converted into the Ray Brooks Regional Corrections Facility (Jail). Complete with 2 stainless steel beds in each room (Cell) along with a stainless Steel sink and toilet in each room (no separate toilet it was in the room itself). Enjoy your experience. 1980 was my only Olympics.

Thanks for showing your view of the Village. The media has mostly had negative coverage regarding the cardboard beds, mostly vegan for & no AC. But the important thing is it's a place where Olympians from around the world can meet other people & share this experience.
