Even my own family tells me NOT to come and visit because it is far too dangerous, either in Paris or in small villages in the South (Pyrénées). Whatever you have as an "image" of the beautiful architecture, culture, cuisine, nice people is GONE. Terminated. There is only crime left. And because they wanted to make Paris a bit better during the Olympics, they have forcefully moved the illegal trash into every small villages all across France, therefore spreading the cancer everywhere. If you think that was a beautiful ceremony, trashing the last supper of the Christ in a sketch involving a dancing bearded trans male/female and Jesus replaced by an obese woman, we do not share the same opinion. Using beheaded Marie-Antoinette and other iconoclastic characters during the OLYMPIC GAMES is a total disgrace that has NOTHING to do with sports. Just the continuous will to destroy whatever was left of that beautiful culture. And it is already in action in the USA. Just look around.

I only watched a bit here and a bit there, only because it appeared disjointed to me. . It showcased beautiful Paris very well,,...can't deny it is a gorgeous city, However, it was not as exciting as the different contingents from all the participating .countries parading into the arena with proud flagbearers in front, being announced and cheered. How exciting it was for a country with very few participants and sometimes only 1, to hear a deafening cheer as they entered the arena. I Wishing all the Olympians a happy, enjoyable and winning time in Paris. In my mind, just making it to the Olympics makes you a winner. Good Luck

I didn't want to watch this ceremony because of the cost and the constraints for France, but I watched it anyway and I felt super proud of what this opening of the Olympics gave to the world as an image of my country: that of a France which does not forget its history, but which draws on it to promote emancipation, tolerance, inclusion, equality, freedom, respect for all whoever they are in a festive and joyful spirit. My country is the polar opposite of communities that use violence to impose their retrograde, racist, homophobic and misogynistic visions and, above all, their backward superstitions on others.
