FYI in France and the UK it’s considered rude to give guests the bill without the guest asking for it because it’s as if the restaurant is telling them to leave. Often meals here are a place to talk and hang out so meals out will last hours 😊 that’s my experience at least

For your next restaurant visit: In France you need to proactively ask for the check when you want to pay. Waiters would never just bring you the check as that is perceived as quite rude😊 a lot of importance is placed on having/taking your time to savor your meal, so restaurants give you the time you want to enjoy your meal😊

Welcome to my country and to the City of Light. The Liberty Flame that you pointed to is a full-sized, gold-leaf-covered replica of the flame of the torch from the Statue of Liberty. It is located near to the Alma bridge and after Princess Diana was killed in the Alma tunnel nearby, it became a shrine to her memory.

This is a minor pet peeve but I wish more tourists would give the Paris Metro (underground) a chance instead of just reverting to the US-developed habit of calling an Uber every time they wanted to get somewhere that's further away. The Metro in Paris does a great job of reaching all the areas of the city. It might not be quite the same "experience" a tube ride in Moscow or Stockholm would be, but it's still cheaper and less polluting than a car ride. Enjoy your trips to Europe!

Wow...loved this so much! I went to Paris in 2009. I cried when I saw the Eiffel Tower. Our hotel room looked a lot like yours. My husband brought back an empty bottle of wine we drank in our room. @@perthfanny3017 I am going in June 2024! I am so excited! I keep having sooo many mixed reviews on people saying wether I should go to Paris. Both saying it was the best trip ever and then others telling me it was overrated, felt rude and was dirty. I am trying to not let those people take over my "excited" thoughts but yeah lol I also have been having a hard time finding a hotel that is affordable. Booked one in Porte de clichy but haven't heard very nice things about that area. Since you are from France, what would you say about that area, safety wise?
