Lyrics:
Our paths will never cross again
And that’s the way you wanted it
You never could care less about
The way we ended up
We swim in different circles now
I saw your tracks in snowy ground
And didn’t want to follow them
As you fell off the earth
Sightings few and far between
I have no words when they tell me
A figure spotted roaming in
The icy mountain wilds
There was a time I felt for you
Would collect these words like drops of dew
And savour on my tongue
In season dry
And I don’t know you
I used to like to pretend to
We’re nothing but myths now
That neither of us believe in
You hear how I achieved good ends
Out of the mouths of mutual friends
And shrug and raise your eyebrows
In the way you always have
And with that too they carry rumours of
When someone last saw my movements
A shadow treading through the willows
In the forest land
Messages that reach our ears
Are met with an indifference
I never thought I wouldn’t care about you
But here we are
Flung to earth’s corners far
We’re nothing but myths now
That neither of us believe in
My tongue’s forgotten how
To shape your name, the way it sounds
We’re nothing but myths now
That neither of us believe in
No muscle memory
No lingering taste
no persistent impulse
To pick up your trace
I left you no note
You left me no sign
Of where I plan to go
Of what you’ve gone to find
Sweet indifference
Gentle apathy
Wholesome, quiet dispassion
Restful neutrality
We’re nothing but myths now
That neither of us believe in
We’re nothing but myths now
That neither of us believe in

I've never heard a song that so perfectly pinpoints the feeling of looking back at a serious relationship that once mattered more than anything and now (in my case) a decade later realizing I truly don't know where they are or what they're doing and neither of us has really tried to change that. No muscle memory, no lingering taste.

Again you gave us a magical experience. A song to wallow in. To feel whole? And broken? Its so easy to feel every bit of heartbreak and also the calmness of forgetting? I can only say it again, the words "sweet indifference" hit it better than every other word or sentence could. How beautiful does it feel to be ok and happy and neither mad nor hurt. Thank you so so much! 🖤

I'm looking for songs for my DnD character and I absolutely adore this song for her "lost lover". They were supposed to go to Strixhaven together, but right before it's time to leave, he tells her that he found a pirate ship they can travel on to explore the world together. He wants to map the stars, and she wants to document exotic creatures. They get into a little tiff and it doesn't get resolved before the ship leaves. Cassiopeia watches him sail away, feeling betrayed and abandoned. He always put his research and studies before her and their entire relationship was a bit neglectful emotionally, so Carter would try and make it up to her by giving her gifts he made. Most the time he would be consumed in his studies while Cassiopeia would be trying to interact with him. She had felt Carter drifting away for a while, but now its also in the physical sense as well. I'm super excited for once this information gets revealed because the other characters in the campaign have already met her ex Carter on said pirate ship, but now he has crab arms (he's a Vedalken and they highly value self-improvement and achieving perfectionism) 😂 I just think it will be hilarious for Cassiopeia to say something like, "Well, I had a boyfriend, but he left me to go travel the world on some pirate ship, and now I've heard through the grapevine he has some stupid crab arms!" with a huff. 😂❤

Queen before, again and for more. Feelings, emotions, and moods that are created while listening to these tunes are eternals and almost too delicates but so full of meaning. When I was in school there was a kid nicknamed Yeti. I learnt one day he hated it so I never called him that again. One day I was away sick and the next day I came back and the teacher told the whole class off for bullying him so badly calling him that that he ran out of class and dropped out of school. There were a few boys like that who had rough home lives who just dropped out and disappeared. I was too mentally unwell at the time to reach out so I don't know how any of them fared, which is weird in this age of social media. It's been over a decade and I have no idea how or who any of them are, or if they're even alive.
