I was lucky enough that my Father had wanderlust and we travelled extensively when I was growing up in the 60s and 70s, even going to Kenya in 1972, long before it became popular. He used to book flights independently, 3 weeks return, but only 3 nights accommodation. It was our job to do a recce on arrival and if we didn’t like it we had a few days to find somewhere else. He was only in his 20s & 30s, with 3 children, very brave when I look back. I inherited that wanderlust! Anyway he always used to say that you should never go back to the same place twice.. you spoil the memories of the first visit and there are so many places to see.

So regarding when you return home. We have developed a different approach. 5 mins from our home we have an aire and a filling station where they have stairs for washing vans. As we live in a block of flats where the easier time to park is about 11am. So we arrive at the aire the night before. We then have a chinese takeaway which is next door. In the morning have breakfast. Use the aire services and then round to the garage for a van clean. Then head home 5 mins away. Park up and we are fresh enough to venture on the van empty job. It works well. The toilet and waste water gets done, the van gets a clean and we get a smashing takeaway the night before. Sorted.

Very interesting questions and answers, life is certainly too short and not a rehearsal ,so do what you can when you can, we have travelled abroad a lot, but the place I wouldn't go back to is Vietnam , a lot of rude Chinese tourists, we have a routine on returning hone, can kept in storage, so we take it home, all fresh food, and washing taken out ,I wash the outside ,whilst my wife does inside ,then it's back to its storage home . We then know it's ready for next time.We have a checklist to ensure everything gets put in. Off to Cambridge on Friday. Living the q and a sessions

We stayed on the Isle of White for a week about a year back. I remembered the needles from childhood, 55 years later and it has been utterly spoilt by being commercialised within an inch of it's life as most of the attractions were. Commonly the Isle of White is overly busy with people and the traffic is a nightmare. I wouldn't visit there again. My fond childhood memories were spoilt completely by our last experience there, sad ! As for a caravan, we've just bought one but it is an extra to our campervan not an instead of. They both have their place in different circumstances and both have upsides and downsides and none are perfect for all situations. Would never buy a motorhome though, too big to park anywhere, except for the camp site.

I remember just after our first date in 1981 we went to see the bond film For Your Eyes Only , do you remember it ? Sheena Eastern sang the song , remember her? Them were the Days , were like you two too we didn't have children, I'm not going to ask you because it's none of my business, but we didn't choose not to have kids ,it was just one of those things , anyway at least you two have aged better than me with mi blooming Arthritis and whatever else 😂, never mind we've gotta keep going right 😂😂, we've got a caravan but it's ready for the bin 😂, were debating wether to get a oldish motor home , because with mi troubles I'd need the room , only a medium one tho or wether to just stay in lodges and the likes , I've had enough of caravaning something I Never thought I'd here myself say I'm 58 and have been caravaning since I was taken to my parents van at two weeks old , bet there's not many younger campers than that 😂😂😂, but it's time for a change , it's a bit upseting tho , anyway here's to much more holidaying in whatever form 😂, Take Care you two , lots love xx

Hi Lynn, sounds like we have much in common. We went to see For Your Eyes Only at Great Yarmouth while on holiday on the Norfolk Broads! @@LifeistooshortCK Lynn A gain , OMG ! We had our Honeymoon in Great Yarmouth in eighty four , we visited all the little stop offs on the Norfolk Broads , the Broads is definitely a place I'd visit again if we did get a van , it's Hubby that does the driving , I can drive ,I learnt in the eighties ,but I never took a test , I drove with a provisional license next to Hubby , I was the one who drove us down to Yarmouth from Yorkshire 😊, what year did you two get married? Your nearer to Yarmouth than us aren't you ? How long does it take you to get there ? It took us about four hours I'm sure , we went down on the same Day as our wedding , didn't get there till about midnight 😂, Take Care xx
