It’s really important to remember that you control the speed of parking with the break. Found out today when my new XC60 backed into a space in 1 quick second! 😱 Luckily I had my foot ready to slam the break and it was a big space.

That's just great if you want to take 3 times longer to park than normal. And you could back it into that spot with just one move if you didn't crawl along so damn close to the parked vehicles.

@isaklurie317 You need it to have the automatic parking option. You can spot it physical on the actual car if it has a parking sensor just in front of the front wheels. On the side fender/bumper.

Do you always have to be a full car length ahead of detected parking space to start procedure, in general?

Just weird that you have to push the gear selector forward to go in reverse !!

Tell me about it. I've had my new Volvo XC40 for 10 months now and for some reason I can't get used to the auto tapping forward for reverse gear. Just seems so unnatural to me.

@@rafaltom5173 Not quite the same. The problem for me is in the old auto boxes like my SLK 32 AMG I used to have to manually shift the gear stick upwards through the selector for reverse, for some reason merely tapping the stick on newer auto boxes like my XC40 just doesn't seem to come natural.

It takes too much time. This feature is only good of you don't need to be in the car yourself. You go out and let the car do the work.
