I drive a 2019 Kinetic one (the cheapest end least well equipped) - and it has automatic cluster brightness adjustment. But for the rest, yes, the infotainment is less than ideal. But, as I see, I can be happy to have the old one in my car.

Here in the States, I just bought a 1 year old C40 with 700 miles(!) on it for $29,900. Original sticker was $63K. And there are hundreds of 1 year old examples with under 10K miles for $27K-$29K. Buy used!

Does it not have voice commands to open the different settings (as my Tesla has, which makes it that much easier and safer)?

You have convinced me this is the best EV on the market. When is the EC40 coming to America? We really need the extended range. Right now C40s are selling so cheap because the range is less than 250 miles.

I liked your honesty and frankness. I share many of your concerns and I hope that Volvo are listening. The rear hatch door button is not a big deal in the UK, but the size of the trunk and its ability to hold the charging cables is. I would love to place an order but the single screen is a deal breaker. I find using a head up display - even a basic one such as on the new Mini Cooper is now essential if you do not have an instrument cluster in front of the driver as we live with a highly regulated and monitored road system in the UK with speed cameras everywhere and speed limits as low as 20 MPH (32 Kph). It is really essential to know your speed at all times. I can overlook some things but the driver awareness system and lack of front facing driver information have made me look elsewhere.
@stephenwilby11797 күн бұрын
A glance to the left for the speed is no diffrence to a glance down for the speed which has been done for decades. You move your eyes for the exact same amount of time. It isnt as though the speedometer is in the boot.
@humphreyrichards89366 күн бұрын
@@stephenwilby1179 That is your point of view. I and a great many other people disagree, glancing down to check speed does not require head movement. Looking to the side does require head movement, hence this is picked up by the car's attention monitoring system. I work in the automotive industry and have driven all mainstream cars. Very few manufacturers do not have a forward facing display for a very good reason. Tesla and Mini both have or offer a HUD to compensate. Just look at other reviews and you will find that the majority of people to not like a single tablet and consider it unsafe and a distraction. In addition Euro NCAP have stated that they will no longer issue 5 star ratings to cars with all functions in a digital screen as from 2026

But I am afraid to try that as I am not sure this is a legit method to launch. Thanks.

@@volvo_kristian so ive driven the first few kilometres and i can say ive got a good understanding of the car now and i thought id write down my thoughts as this could be interesting for other people too: Pros: -very comfortable and extremely smooth ride -very effortless to drive -good assistent systems -very good looks from the outside and very good hifi -seats are amazing -good safety features Mixed: -interior design is a bit of a mixed bag, i like some elements but some are feeling outdated already, but all in all it feels premium -infotainment is fast and intuitive, but also very empty and maybe a little too boring, although android in a car is very cool (im looking forward to the new 2025 infotainment software update) Cons: -interior quality is a bit worse than the audi in comparison (f.e. displays have less resolution and contrast, buttons feel cheaper, touchscreen without haptic feedback) -digital gage cluster isnt really using the potential of being digital, i wouldve liked to have at least some customization options -active high beam is better calibrated with the audi -not possible to turn off traction controle sadly -somehow the 4 cyl diesel tdi sounded better than the 4 cylinder t6 at least from the inside -ambient lighting is honestly a bit of a joke for this price class In conclusion i think the car is amazing to get from a to b in a very comfortable and safe manner and i really start to like its simplicity. But to be fair personally i must say that i miss the little extra sportiness and more futuristic interior design of the Audi A6. My other family members dont like to drive spirited or sporty at all and for them this car is perfect, for me it works great but i think i understand that im not the person that should buy a Volvo for myself as it doesnt suite me as much personally.

@@volvo_kristian I’ve tried the XC90 T8, and when you give it some throttle, it feels almost exclusively front wheel driven. Also, when it’s slippery, rear wheels will spin slightly before front wheels kick in, it just doesn’t seem that well coordinated imo. But the looks, interiors and feel of these Volvos are 10/10 imo.
