Super video, as always! The car really suits you - but I totally agree with the "ugly" things. The plastic parts painted would just make such a difference. Additionally the Heico springs for a better coefficient and it would be as close as possible to the perfect car - in my opinion.

Your passion shines Kristian. Thanks for a walk through of this edition. I drove it myself a few months ago, before deciding on a specific white C40 MY24 I had my eyes on. The thing with black for me is that I've owned a black car the last 10 years and dirt is very visible on black paint, in my experience. I don't have a garage, so even when I washed my car, it was already showing signs of being dirty after a few hours - even when it's not raining. I drive a white car now, and people say white is sensitive to dirt, but if you ask me; NOT as sensitive as black. 😊

Consumption of the C40 is rather high, I have the MY24. That doesn't matter to me as I finally found the EV for me. (That is: The battery is still big enough.)

I agree regarding noise in the cabin. For such an expensive car the noise of the road should be better insulated (some more insulation in the wheel arches). Also noise reduction windows in the front and rear, as Tesla does standard in the model Y

I added some sound insulation mat under the trunk cover on my 24 xc40, and the cabin noise levels are now noticably lower. Also, changing the awful pirelli all season tires to proper summer ones made a huge difference.

I’d suggest avoiding doing range tests in rainy/cold weather, but then you’d only have a 14 day window in Scandinavia to do all your range tests😂. LOVE the blacked out EC40!

The XC90 is better looking. Would choose it if it had a slightly larger battery and faster charging (like the new Passat), but the EX90 is the future.

Just picked up my new 25 XC90 last week….absolutely love it! Still a nicer design after all these years than the EX90. And yes Kristian, love the smell of the leather interior. Got the lounge package which has the nubuck headliner, visors and grab handles…very lux!

The XC90 B5 and B6 for the American market. Texas alone is larger than most European countries. Traveling from Houston to Dallas will use up a charge and there are few places to change up when you get there. The thought of waiting hours to recharge when I can fill up with gas in 5 minutes defies all logic. I’ll let the Europeans pretend they’re saving the planet with their EVs.

I’m so glad Volvo didn’t nix it as an option in their zeal to be “sustainable”. Keep up the good work, Kristian. By the way do you know when U.S. customers can go on line and build our new XC90s?

I’m American, it’s absolutely the XC90 for our market. We don’t have the infrastructure for charging EV’s. Plus we’re much larger country for road trips.

I ordered the EX90 at launch in 2022. Latest news is that my car is postponed to 2025. I also do not like the minimalistic style, the interior materials and so on. I am not really a fan of the charging shenanigans either. Most likely I will cancel the order. Currently I have a full spec XC90 T8 that I bought new in 2016 which I am very happy with. I am reluctant to change it into something I do not really like. I might keep it for another 3-5 years and then consider again to go electric. If I were forced to get a new car right now I would probably buy a second hand XC90 T8 with the larger battery and fuel tank. Buying a brand new XC90 is just a bit to expensive. It is a shame the the taxes on the hybrids are so aggressive considering that the larger battery covers the daily driving for most people.

Yeah. It was sad to hear about this last delay for the EX90.. Have to be a torn in Volvo's eyes. A itch you can't scratch.. Hopefully it all works out in the end. Understand your reasoning regarding a new XC90.. Love these Plug-In Hybrids but as you say, they're sadly heavily taxed.. Quite a shame really. That's why I'm 100% agreeing and supporting your thoughts that a 2nd XC90 might be a good solution, if changing cars. Thanks for commenting 👌

The XC 60 seems like an extremely popular car still in Norway. Bein a fan of these cars, and looking to buy a familie car here in Norway, im not sure to gi for a new slightly smaller full EV (ex40) or a nice used top specced XC60, wonder what Kristian would recommend..

Good question. Would say it highly depends what market your in. If we think Plug-In Hybrid then I would definitely recommend MY22.5 or newer to get the updated battery 🔋 If your into diesel/petrol/mild hybrid there's no major preferences either way.. Unless your prefer Volvo's previous Sensus system vs the latest Android Automotive. The EX60 are still like 2 years away, so could definitely recommend a used XC60 while waiting.

The good for me is that they didn’t mess too much, with the exterior design in the rear 2/3rds at least. The bad is that they took away the stylistic strength, from what has become an iconic front end, in it’s various iterations. And the ugly is that the front end now looks like a f****** Peugeot.

After my S90 I had a XC40 P8, then a V60 T6, before trying out the S60 Polestar Engineered 😎 but one major reason to go to S60 are enhanced driving dynamics. Smaller, lighter and more agile.

Do none of the Android based PHEV Volvos have individual druiv modes?! Boy do I feel even better in our choice to just keep our Sensus one. Instead of removing it, can we have more than one customizeble drive mode for each drivers profile please! In town I want Hybrid suspension, Locked in EV mode and absolutely not eco climate. While as soon as the road opens up a bit, the suspension needs to go to Polestar. Its bloomin annoying to change that in sensus already. Have they really "updated" that away and not done anything anout it in the facelift either?

Correct. Can't pick a individual drive mode on any Android based Volvo. Do you find it annoying on your Sensus car? That's quite surprisingly to hear. I'm driving a 2020 S60, and change drive modes several times a day. For me it's a pleasure to use the Drive Mode selector wheel 😎

@@volvo_kristian Thanks for clarifying that. I foolishly thought it was just the selector wheel they had removed and that alone was such a big factor we kept the sensus car and haven't upgraded. I'd love the upgraded drivetrain, but not on the expense of having to fiddle in the touchscreen more. Knowing you can't have an individual drive mode simply would put me off any Volvo PHEV as I want Pure drivetrain setting on most day to day drives, but it's often very wet and humid where I live and I can't stand the eco climate setting you get in Pure drive mode. The car simply streams up with eco climate. I maybe was a bit unclear, I love the drive mode selector wheel! What I was meaning was that if you want to change the setting of the individual drive mode (like firm up the suspension only while leaving everything else the same) you have to dig into the screen menus while driving and I really dislike that. So I would love to have two individual drive modes (the opposite to what VOLVO have done and removed it completely, including the selector wheel). I hope it makes sense.

The bad for me is that this car is desperately in need of core development and not just a facelift. These core missing features are (1) EV Battery at 25+kWh to drive 100+ km. (2) Four Wheel Steering. (3) LIDAR Hardware. Ideally re-designing the Hybrid drivetrain to become primarily EV motor with ICE suspended to re-charge the battery only like in Chinese cars example given Li Auto. Lastly removing the hard buttons row from the dashboard is an insult to the philosophy of "Safety First". I am now more convinced my XC90 T8 will be replaced with a X5 in the absence of a Li9 coming to the UK by 2028

Apple CarPlay are standard, but wasn't specified if it was wireless or not. Headlight unit are just redesigned.

Hi Kristian. Du må benytte Google translate, om nødvendigt 😊 Du har ret! 30 kWh batteri. 11 kW ladning og kanske CCS 40-50 kW 😊 men stadig 6-7 sæder. Det har Porsche, BMW eller Mercedes-Benz ikke. Også mangler der vist USB-C på 3-sæderække. Lige nu er det svært at vælge mellem XC90 og EX90. Om ændringerne i XC90 havde været bedre, så hadde jeg valgt den flotte XC90 😊

Hi Kristian. I'm intrigued by comments you've made on other videos saying on the AAOS models without thumbwheel, if you dim the dash at night it's too dim by day. I saw a discussion on a forum saying it works properly, bright by day, albeit it needed a reset of the centre display. I've watched a few videos recently of AAOS Volvos, made a point of looking at the dash and saw no thumbwheel. Several of them, instrument brightness was fine by day, car went into a tunnel, instruments dimmed, came out the tunnel, were too dim for a moment, then went to normal brightness. Wondering why you had problems. Thanks.

Sadly the promised mileage is not reality. I have never had more than 360km on a full charge - I don't speed, no sudden braking, I follow all the rule for an EV. Plus it's not even winter yet. Car finish is great though, but it's a LOT to pay when for such low mileage.

Well. The XC60 will be similar, but still, or hopefully, with it's own character. Regarding V90 I'm not sure if they will bother giving it a facelift. Not sure about it's future. Volvo are predominantly a SUV brand these days. Maybe they do the XC60 facelift next to EX60 reveal, but personally I think we will see the XC60 facelift first. Then let the EX60 get it's own reveal. EV90, well not sure..

@@Jolleseileren Nja.. Nåværende XC60/XC90 har endel likheter, men også vesentlige forskjeller.. De ble likere på front design etter XC60 facelift på MY22. . Jeg vil tro at XC60 får ny facelift mot slutten av 2025. Mest sannsynlig får den samme grill som denne XC90 facelift, dog tror jeg den får annen støtfanger/front design.. men vi vil nok se store likheter.. Mtp EX60 så vil det nok bli samme historie. Familie likhet til EX90 men likevel litt egenart.. Uten at jeg vet sikkert så tror jeg ny generasjon 40 kommer i 2027.. De skal lansere 1 elbil hvert år. Neste år blir det ES90, så i 2026 blir det EX60.g

xc90 holds its value very good. 2017-18 XC90 still can cost around 400 000 -650 000 swedish sek. Almost same price as a low milage 2019 porsche cayenne.

Thank you for another great video, Kristian. I agree that the moonroof shade is a must. The new interior materials truly look top notch. The grille redesign is so classy. I love the new operating system and the screen layout, but don't like how the screen now protrudes from the dash. Wish there was a way to better integrate it, but - on the other hand - I do appreciate the traditional digital cockpit instead of going to a giant widescreen on the dash. Oh yeah, some of the new colors are superb. Especially that (fusion?) red.

Thanks so much 🙏 Yeah, I'm a huge fan of these Nordico seats. Especially this Cardamom style with quilting. Looks so sweet. But also completely agree with you regarding the centre screen. Wish it was possible to integrate it more, but then I think we would loose the button layout under. And I'm so glad we still have the volume wheel 😂 Small things. Yeah the new Mulberry Red are pretty sweet

Currently own an S90, my next car will most likely be the ES90 or the Polestar 5. Although not having a closing/opening sunroof, and most importantly a retractable shade might be deal breakers for me. I live in Florida and the Summer heat is not kind 😂
