Let’s see some quirks on your beloved XC40. You can start with the very old fashioned screen. You seem to feed of finding small negatives on the EX30, for some reason. In several videos. Why?
@volvo_kristian5 сағат бұрын
@eilifnrgaard4855 I've sold my XC40, but okay. Either way it doesn't come close to the 30 in small negatives.. Have you driven the EX30 yourself? And maybe also every other Volvo last 10 years. Then you should realise that the EX30 has many many small negatives and quirks. It's just a fact. And most importantly, my opinion. If you don't like it, than there's probably other video's for you to watch regarding the EX30.. either way.. Doesn't matter what I think if YOU like and enjoy the EX30. We're all different

Ohhh. Like your videos, and hope you'll enjoy this "mean machine". Every car you owned (but the XC40) are really 10,000 miles away from my personal taste (it is not a criticism,, sorry) but it makes me mentally review your opinions and criticisms of certain other models you reviewed, knowing your target cars. As my mother says, "The most important thing is that you like it". Thanks for your video, always.

Hello Kristian thanks for the 1st look at the Black Edition of the new 2025 EC40. It's exactly what i was looking for! Been following your videos for the EX30 that we're still waiting here in Canada. We will get the 2025 models and I've ordered it (twin motors) but now looking at the upcoming EC 40 I'm not sure what would be best. Volvo Canada dealers haven't even received yet the price list for EC 2025 so cant compare the pricing list on EX30 Ultimate twin motor vs the same in the Black edition for the EC 2025... For those with the pricing list is the difference huge? Is the Black Edition more expensive than amother EC 2025 different colors? Thanks and keep up the good work!

@jesuis1837 Great to hear you enjoyed the video. Understand your questioning the EX30. Regarding the price. There's a huge difference there. At least here in Norway we're we have both. The price gap from 30 to 40 with similar spec (twin. Ultimate) are 170.000 NOK.. However it's also a "much" bigger car, and you get more of everything. More tech, better seats, more interior amenities, better range, faster charging +++ In my opinion it's a much better car than the 30. Hence the price
@jesuis1837Күн бұрын
@@volvo_kristian Wow your price difference is way bigger than us! Our EX 30 are overpriced here in Canada by about 10 000$ compare to US Market and because of that i think the value here (sweet spot) is to go for the EC 40 if you have the budget as the difference from the whole enchiladas package on the EX 30 AWD Twins ultra and the EC 40 AWD twins ultimate version is about 5000$ 6000$ max !. Once the price of the EX 30 goes down here (if it goes that way) then the difference between those 2 models will look like what you have in Norway.

The Tesla Model Y will crush the sales numbers of the EX30 based on the full year. The fact that Ex30 delivers many in the first few months is based on previous orders and new deliveries first in April and May 😉Norway and the rest of the world. what about, for example, the sales figures so far in the month of June in Norway, Model Y vs Ex30? 😅

I took a test drive with this car last Thursday. I was happy with how quiet the alarm beeps and boops were while driving. Manageable. I was happy there were quite a few physical buttons still in the cockpit. Thank you. The navigation screen / UI was okay quick (not like Tesla though). Good enough. About the Black Edition: It doesn’t tick any check boxes with me. I’ve owned a black car for 10+ years. I quite tired of trying to keep it looking clean.

Kristian, the rwd ec40 has a different battery than the awd version starting in MY24. The rwd uses new CATL prismatic cells and the awd uses lg pouch cells. IMO the CATL battery is a better battery with slightly higher energy density and expected longer life. It is why I bought one. I believe that Volvo will transition to the CATL batteries in both versions soon.
@volvo_kristian4 күн бұрын
Are you sure? I'm actually not sure about cell chemistry differences. Just know there's two different batteri sizes available for the RWD, and this is the extended range, so same size as the twin version. Not sure if there's different chemistry
@ontrakcontrolsystemsinc.91474 күн бұрын
@@volvo_kristian It is only the extended range RWD version that has the newer CATL batteries in MY24. Chemistry is essentially the same but manufacturer and form factor are different. The newer CATL prismatic cells should out preform the LG pouch cells. Your Volvo contact should be able to verify.
@ontrakcontrolsystemsinc.91474 күн бұрын
One more thing the Volvo battery engineer stated " Because of the battery pack difference, single-motor versions fast-charge a little quicker. They get from 10-80% in just 28 minutes and reach a peak 200 kw, while dual-motor versions do it in 34 minutes and reach a peak 150 kw.
@ontrakcontrolsystemsinc.91474 күн бұрын
I expect Volvo does not want to publicize the change as there are a lot of cars ( C40 and EX40 ) in inventory ( in Canada anyway) with the LG pouch cells. RWD 2024 EX40 also have the CATL cells.
@volvo_kristian4 күн бұрын
@ontrakcontrolsystemsinc.9147 What? That can't be correct. My XC40 that I just sold was a MY24 Twin, and that had a peak of 208kW

I like it a lot … but Volvo is failing on the interiors by emulating Tesla too much (lack of physical buttons/dials, not enough information in instrument panel, no option for all-metal roofs). And we all want to see 800-volt architecture plus optional larger battery packs for long-range driving. It’s hard to justify having a BEV for long road trips unless you can drive a minimum of 485-550 km (300-350 miles) at 130 km/hr on a single charge at outside air temperatures of 0-10 degrees C.

I have been driving Volvo for 40 years, including 2 with Sensus, except for the navigation, this was much better. Now with AAOS, far too much is put on the screen, which does not make it any safer. Now drive an XC60 T6, if you want to change the driving mode, you have to go into the menu where there used to be a beautiful wheel on the center console. Conclusion: the operation has become much worse with AAOS, as is the case in the EX30 but also in my XC60

9:28, why would you want to change it from auto to low beam? I mean the lights are on if it’s on auto The setting you are talking about is not high beam. High beam is controlled by the stalk.
@volvo_kristian5 күн бұрын
Maybe I've should explained it more thoroughly. I'm switching to the other light settings because in auto settings to can't "force" on high beam. If the car consider it's to bright outside then you can't activate high beam. Same on all other Volvo's as well. But with other Volvo's you just twist the wheel on the stalk. Here however you have to change on the screen.

You helped with those sales numbers! While I purchased a gorgeous Polestar 2 Snow/Slate Plus AWD Pilot this week, I still love the look of this car. However, zero communications from Volvo, tariff fears, known SW glitches, and the value of my Bolt EUV trade-in plummeting... I had to make a move and was satisfied the P2 was the correct one to make at this time. In 27 months if they are being sold in the USA. are fully baked, and affordable I will consider an EX30 next. You know I've been thinking if Volvo had started their rollout in the USA first... they may well have improved those sales numbers... Hindsight is 20/20 as they say...
@volvo_kristian5 күн бұрын
Totally understandable that you went for the Polestar 2.. However the EX30 are a great car as well, and with time Volvo will hopefully get the software up at the same level.
@davidrunnalls30397 күн бұрын
Bought the EX30 extended range ultra. Covered 3200 miles since beginning of March (4800km). Now that I have had the update done some issues have been rectified, charging on AC, car not detecting key fob. However I do agree with you about having to go through so many functions to access simple things, trip distance should be shown in the screen all the time, the ability to choose how your consumption is shown, I like miles per kWh it's just easier, my last car had every option for this you could think of. The new nanny state devices, speed limit warnings etc to turn off this and lane keep assist which here in the UK will take you either in the ditch or the path of an on coming car just takes too long every time you start the car. Driver alert is a perfect nuisance bleeping at you when you are negotiating a roundabout has to go off again every time you start. These should be saved to your profile and when you get in you should just have a profile screen pop up, you then press except job done! This should apply to all the settings lights wipers etc etc. I will most likely after the three year contract by another EX30 as other than these irritations I love the car, the way it drives charges just perfect.

To me, these two videos, including "the good", are the most important videos regarding the Volvo C40. I've just helped me avoid a disaster of an experience. Me and my girlfriend want to change car. We're looking at electric as I will need electric to get to work properly. Yes, need .. as my government is forbidding ICE cars to the area where my work is. I so much want a car that is "normal" or "old normal". Cant stand all the new things with having to use touch displays to control essential functions of a vehicle. Can't stand voice command for controlling my moving vehicle. I am SO thankful for getting this info out there. Other KZbinrs don't explain how bad this actually is with this car.
