Mall cop. I was thinking of taking my nephew there this week. Guess I'll keep fishing on the Okaloosa. 47 years fishing on piers from the Outer Banks to the Gulf. I've never seen a mall cop tell a fisherman they couldn't overhand cast with a plug. Brad you are a gentleman. You handled it better than I could have.

That's the part of being a professional. I grew up fishon the navarre pier. I've seen plenty of people get hooked that way. The pros always look behind em to make sure no ones around. But... it's a fishing pier. There's danger out there for everyone walking and fishing. And if that guys feathers got ruffled over that he may wanna find a new career. Out there making himself look like a goofball.

I would rather someone overhand cast . Sideways people next to you. If you arnt fishing dont go around people with poles. This whole world just wants to create issues because they don't like somthing . I mean they even have groups of people that particularly are against ski boats and tried to fight against them saying they shouldn't exist. People just need to mind there own business when you don't even need to come near me if you don't like it walk.

The only written rule for casting on Gulf Shores Pier applies to Sabiki rigs. In this case I'd have asked to see the rule the officer was referring to. There is nothing prohibiting overhand casting of lures or bait on this pier.

We are from TN and often fish two or three weeks are year on the Gulf Pier. If there is a NEW rule about NO overhead casting (other than Sabiki) then we will never go back. Either way, the Officer needs to chill out. If a job requires communication skills, they need to be a more selective in who they hire. However, anyone casting should realize a lot of walkers may have never been on a pier, and the caster should also be responsible enough to look before they cast.

What we didn’t hear was the beginning of the conversation...someone said something that ticked off the officer and then it was all downhill from there. I mean, it didn’t stop Brad from casting overhand...lmao

So the only rule on that pier is no overhand casting sabiki rigs and like an added written in request to not overhand cast gotcha plugs. Its a fishing pier. The ones who are fishing pay more then the ones who just use it for sight seeing. Perfect example of who do you want to accommodate, the person spending $10 or the person spending $2. More then likely the person complaining is on vacation, and wont be back any time soon, so the options are tell the sightseers hey youre on a fishing pier you have to watch out, or threaten to kick out the people who spend more money, multiple times a week there. Security guy just wants to pat his ego, and didnt really think his actions out. He just seen an opportunity to go flex and look important. If guys like him continue to behave like that, all its going to do is drive the fishermen, who spend more money there, to somewhere else. Its bad enough they are dragging their feet fixing the pier. Alabama is having a really hard time finding a balance of supporting tourism and supporting the locals who live there. Continue to mistreat the locals and soon there are no locals, no one to run the tourism no one to keep places open in the "off season"

I love the pier fishing vids, but the more I watch them, the more I think it’s not worth it. The elbow-to-elbow crowds, the constant need to run around, under, and over people, and the danger of catching an errant hook make it an unattractive proposition. I know you have the chance to hook fish you never could from the beach, but then when you do, getting them up to the pier is a chore. Plus, you must lose a mint in broken off tackle.

I agree with you. People who are not fishing need to watch out for fisherman casting. The shark 🦈 catch was cool. What ever you do don't get put in jail. I don't want to see that content. Great video.

Maybe the park ranger should explain that complaints about casting on a fishing pier is like going to a bonfire and complaining about the fire.

The Ranger needs to understand that he's a public servant. No need for him to get bent and act like an ass. If he can't deal with the public he needs another profession

Somebody complaining about people casting on a fishing pier is like sitting in a smoking area and complaining about smoke.

was that even a real cop? his shirt said "security." either way, prime example of people who should not be in positions of authority because they let their egos get in the way.

If you don't have enough sense to keep clear of multiple people slinging lures and shit you don't need to be out there
