I bought my Honda VFR 800fi new on the 4th of September 2000. But it is on a X plate. It is also metallic blue plastic bodywork but one less wheel so loving colour. I once worked at a blokes house who loved Reliant Robins and was turning a yellow one into a pickup truck. A work mate crashed into one in his van at 50mph the bodywork shattered and left the driver sitting on the chassis unharmed . Great buy. Have some fun with it before passing it on.

Having grown up near Tamworth, my love of Reliants is irrational, yet something I am quite comfortable with. I like Scimitars, too, if that helps to redeem myself.

I own a 2008 opel astra H. Their are a couple of things that I think need to be checked while owning one. First off is you should regularly service your astra because of the timing chain. Secondly check the rocker cover gasket, because they tend to leak. The oil sensor will leak after a while but its easy to change. Lastly is the front bushings. You can change a bushing but I would recommend changing the lower control arm because bringing it to a garage to do this will require the bushing being pressed out but you can buy the whole lower control arm at a cheap price and it includes the ball joint that is riveted in , and lastly the opel astra is very cheap to run

A mint example! No doubt the lowest genuine mileage one still on the road, its definitely a bit of a Vauxhall parts bin car, not only the Corsa headlights, but the rear end too, those rear light clusters & very possibly the rear side windows, are from the Nova! If you have a close look at the plastic light mouldings you might see a GM logo! Thats a lovely paint colour too, but then again, I'm sure I remember seeing 90's Vauxhalls in a very similar colour too!

With a couple small mods, that MK3 can easily make a 100mph top end and get there a LOT quicker than a 1600 Ford Capri too, the MK3's had roller bearing clutch releases making them a ton easier to motor than the ones using the pre-WW2 Girling clutch releases made out of a carbon ring. Couple tips, give the A frame a thorough rust protection as they are not galvanised like the chassis, I used galvanising paint on mine after on the Shaftesbury road the welding on the A frame split and it went from nice road holder to out of control shopping trolley and nearly ended up through the hedge of Motcombe showground. Partswise Joe Mason is the man, Jools Holland at CHG also has a ton of parts and surprising how much spares are about for these. Shane at Bennett's Field garage in Wincanton used to race the 3 wheelers and what he don't know about a Reliant isn't worth writing about although he's a Triumph Dolomite chap nowadays :D
@karljohnson8221Ай бұрын

I’d be in contact with Mathewsons , with that mileage and being the last it probably literally is the lowest mileage out or certainly close The publicity would be far wider and greater than an advertisement on eBay Like eBay you’d have clarity for the owner of what is returned to them And it would be interesting content for the channel and I’d anticipate that they’d welcome you and perhaps could do a series follow ing it’s part in there sale and maybe a wSlk around of the treasure they have on there sites

I had a 1967 Reliant van ( Del Boy type). Bought it in 1970. Surprisingly nippy and averaged 65mpg. Had to be careful with passengers in the back as they sat over the axle and turning too fast would lead to two wheel driving. Once you got used to it the Reliant was OK and importantly cheap to run. I was told that the engine was a sleeved down Hillman Imp engine. Amazingly good driving uphill in snowy conditions and could cope better than many cars but downhill was a different story when if the front wheel hit a rut you ended up following it. Dave’s Reliant is a beauty and should be in a museum. A great example of a car that brought affordable motoring to many people. Please don’t go on calling it a plastic pig.

@Zeem4Ай бұрын
Unless the engine had been swapped, whoever told you it was a Hillman Imp engine may have been thinking of the Bond 875 and Bond Ranger van. Those used the complete 34hp (low-compression) engine, transmission and suspension package from the Commer Imp van. Reliant's own engines were an all-alloy copy of the Standard-Triumph SC engine.

The Rialto (that looked a bit like a Mk2 Fiesta missing a front wheel) was discontinued in 1998 while the Robin it had been intended to replace soldiered on until 2001. This one's definitely a Robin.
