I've ran Audiopipe subs for quite a while and actually had a pair of the Eye Candy (grey) 12's and they were awesome. I eventually stepped up to BDC3 12's and they were cool until the coils failed by turning into slinkys... Upgraded to the BDC4 12's and they were cool until they suffered the same fate... of slinky coils... Switched to an American Bass HD-18 and that thing was a beast until I sold it and got my 1st pair of Deaf Bonce SA272 15's then shortly after that snagged a pair or 3012r's and they have been the absolute best subs I've ever owned and take everything I've thrown at them. Audiopipe makes great subs but they really need to consider using better voice coils for longer lasting performance. I won't take a chance on them again until they do. For now, it's Deaf Bonce for the win!

Because it's free air and being run at a very abusive frequency. The 800RMS is in a box. The box creates an air cushion which acts as a suspension of sorts. Unless the sub specifies free air installation it is rated for use in a box that it recommends.

Two things from those TS specs really jumps out. The linear one way Xmax is only 6mm. That's tiny. Most 12's have 15mm-20mm one way. Very bizarre. Maybe they meant 12mm one way/24mm pk to pk? That makes more sense if it's Xmech is really 40mm pk to pk. The other thing is the spl/sensitivity of 96dB @1w/1m. There's no way. Maybe they meant 86? Most 18" subs can't hit 96dB @1w.

Several subs have a small X max but a large X mechanical. With those you have to remember that typically, those are going to be sloppy and not accurate. But this is also pretty common with cheap subs being sloppy at higher higher excursion. You can also see when Parker took the sub apart, the coil windings were not very wide versus subs that have a much higher X max will have a whole lot wider winding on the coil. As far as the sensitivity, pretty much all of the old subs had a sensitivity in the 90’s. Then the Kicker Solo came out and it had a low 80’s SPL rating. Everyone knew you had to push more power to them to get the same SPL as higher sensitivity subs. It seems that within the last 20 years or so, fewer and fewer people seem to be aware of this as the average age of those who are into car audio get younger and younger.
