Also known as Parkestone West Level Crossing.
One of two level crossings within the Harwich International Port, right beside Harwich International Station. Despite these crossings both being inside a port area, it's apparent you're able to stand and walk-over this crossing, so long as you do not pass any restricted areas marked 'No Unauthorised Access'.
There are old Smiths Industries barriers in need of replacement and loud alarms. There's what looks to be a spare barrier unit in a car park next to where I was standing, which has had its doors taken off, allowing you to see all the mechanism inside which is pretty cool. There's also a few old barrier arms lying around. The barriers currently in use look very aged. Traffic was just disembarking one of the ferries from Holland which had docked here.

Yes! Love this video! A treat to come home to after a day in Canterbury - the level crossing that *I* introduced to the community! This is probably the level crossing with the most ominous atmosphere I have ever come across! I do like how the lights you stood near are so low down that you had to duck under them 😂. Still, I really like those alarms and the old original Smiths Industries barriers with the original arms, and I've not paid enough attention to that barrier box. Stellar video, UKLCC! This is Parkeston Quay - renamed Harwich International - but as a local this will ALWAYS be Parkeston Quay - Harwich is three miles down the road - when I was a kid it was a lovely place - now look at it -

Yeah, this crossing is officially known as Parkeston West, based on the area, but I have named it based on the current name of the port.

Yeah for some reason some of the skirt rods are red. Must be replacements to old white rods

As I said, old skirt rods replaced by the red ones. These barriers are several years old and are probably in need of replacement
