Nikolas Cruz is facing a possible death sentence for killing 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Cruz's defense team, arguing instructions before the jury visits the school, complained about class photos in rooms that show victims including Aaron Feis and the graduating seniors.

The entire defense was based on lies. The notion that Cruz’s alleged fetal alcohol syndrome rendered him unable to distinguish right from wrong is complete and utter nonsense. The defense also lied when they stated that Cruz “slipped through the cracks,” falsely claiming that he didn’t receive professional treatment for his alleged mental health issues. He had been treated for years. He had seen a therapist for 15 times in the span of one year alone. The defense should not be allowed to lie. Not to mention their unprofessional behavior, the way they would sit around joking and laughing with their despicable client. Weekes even had the audacity to say, “No one has gone through what [the defense lawyers] have gone through,” referring to the instances when the victims’ families criticized their behavior. He actually said that to a room full of parents whose children were murdered by a lowlife degenerate. If you think the only thing the defense did wrong was flip the middle finger in court, there’s something wrong with you. Seek help.

@@artvandelay5157 You obviously do not what constitutes a "lie" in the legal sense, do you? You understand a "lie" in a court- perjury- is impermissible and is severely punished. And defense lawyers are allowed to joke and laugh with their client...please cite the law that states otherwise...I'll wait... I would like to point out that Cruz is not the one demanding these things, his defense team is. Cruz is still guilty without a shred of doubt, but the video title is misleading. His lawyers are just exploring their every option. If they don’t do that, Cruz could later sue them for inadequate representation. Cruz has a right to a fair trial under the US Constitution, and his legal team is just making sure they do everything they can to ensure that. To be clear, I’m not sympathetic to Cruz whatsoever. This is just how our system works, and the title is unnecessarily sensational and misrepresenting the situation Edit: I would like to add that I’m aware that he must confer with his attorneys on these requests, but based on the nature of the request, it seems that his attorneys pushed for that. He is not going to “demand” anything from the judge, but his attorneys can make requests. I imagine his attorneys don’t want him to be present for the tour so he doesn’t accidentally incriminate himself. His attorneys are legally obligated to do everything in their power to provide him a fair trial, and submitting this request is how they do that. If you really think he told his attorneys everything that they listed as reasoning to not be present, things only an attorney would know to care about, then please explain your perspective. Otherwise, please save yourself the effort.

If you can not afford an attorney one gets appointed to you and they're supposed to defend to the best of their ability, even if that best defense leads to them serving life instead of getting the death penalty. I think life plus no parole and being put in solitary confinement is much harsher than death and I'll be happy to pay my taxes to get someone like this in that place. Cruz lost his right to demand anything the moment he started his massacre. It may be traumatic for the jurors but that’s part of being a juror. IMO, they have already been traumatized by the entire trial. Plus, there’s absolutely no reason to for an appeal. Cruz did it, he confessed that he was guilty, and even though he cried “one” time telling how sorry he was, he social media reports state “numerous” times that he wanted to make others suffer. He did it, he confessed he did, end of story. He’s only sorry because he was caught! Imo of course.

People are responsible for their own actions. EVERYONE makes choices. Nobody is forced into this behavior, it's a choice. People with mental health issues tend to act out on impulses. Parents who won't admit to themselves of others what type of child they've raised and blame everybody else's kid. Defending people like Cruz is distasteful, and I understand why people develop strong feelings about defense Counsel in such cases. However, believe me when I say that the prosecution want the defence to do the very best job they can. Explore every possible avenue, raise every possible objection, however frustrating that may seem. Because only then is there true closure at the conclusion of trial. A failure on the part of the defense to do the most thorough job possible simply opens the door to a later appeal and drags out the pain and suffering for all involved. So whilst I understand it leaves a bitter taste, it is absolutely essential and I admire defense attorneys that understand that, and don't shirk away from giving the best possible representation to even the most despicable of human beings.

@@janicem9225 I completely understand your viewpoint, but we must ask ourselves, how does one get to this point. I don't justify his actions at all, but if people are not shown and taught love, their sense of love will die out and unfortunately, that is what's happening with our teens and everyone around. There is no more empathy, compassion, and understanding for others anymore. And it all stems from home on how we treat each other.

Using the fact he had no one to love against him is unkind. The very fact he is the way he is is BECAUSE of that. If you've been starved of love and affection all your life, are you trying to tell me you wouldn't go off the edge and not give a thought to doing unspeakable things without thinking of the consequences? A child NEEDS guidance, love and affection, it's what shapes who they become. Whilst I of course don't condone what he did, I'd like you to show me someone that could cope and deal with just half of what he's been through smh
@destructo3915
@destructo3915 2 жыл бұрын
@@LMCSM Firstly, I was in no way using it against him. Secondly, you're only saying that because he didn't kill anyone YOU love. You're being too quick to judge, what you just said is basically what I said. I never said it was his fault. I was simply pointing out that he turned out that way because he has nobody to love. I myself actually do know how that feels, although I didn't commit the same action as him. All my life I had nobody that loved me, my mother always showed favoritism towards my siblings and would kick me out on a weekly basis from age 13-25. Women always rejected me. I didn't have many friends. One day I got really lonely and called a prostitute because that was the only way I could have an intimate interaction with someone. I gave her the cash, but attempted to take it back after our session because I needed the money for food, again, because my family only wanted to help my siblings, not me. My sister had a good job and was sending money to my mom, who would only use it on herself and my brother to go grocery shopping. She would never include me. It was the middle of the night and as I was running while she chased after me, my glasses fell off and I couldn't see where I was going. I jumped off a balcony not knowing how high the drop was, attempting to escape, as I landed I fractured my heel bone in 7 pieces. That was 5 years ago. Ever since I haven't been able to walk the same and can't work that much and I'm always broke as a result. All of this because of the same reason...I was lonely, my mother didn't love me, I couldn't find a girl to love me...I didn't care about what I was doing and did something unspeakable because of loneliness and rejection. So yeah, I actually do know a thing or two about what you just said and it's very unkind of you to assume things about me and twist around the meaning of my comment as unkind when I was really just sympathizing with him, trying to say hey, if this guy wasn't so unloved this wouldn't have happened, but at the same time I can imagine being so angry and not giving two f**** about how lonely he was if one of the victims was my brother. Ask yourself this: would you be calling me unkind if he killed someone you loved? I don't think so, I just don't. You can go and tell me you still would but I'm not going to believe you.

Reading these comments is as difficult as watching those poor parents have to go through this. I am shocked at how little the general public knows about how a trial is conducted. This is how it works - EVERY TIME. They have to go over everything in painstaking detail. They have to cover every fact. Talk to every witness. Ask every single question over and over and do it with precision. If they miss one little thing there is a mistrial and the whole thing starts over. How ever painful this is how our judicial system works. No one is doing anything wrong here.

Because the judge knows that even the lawyer knows what shes trying to argue is ridiculous. Its a legal concept that any first year law school student learns called "but for"... but for Nicholas' actions, the police would not have had to respond to an active shooter situation and break windows to gain access to secure the place and render aid. Ergo he is responsible for any and all damage to the windows or anything else the police had to break or anything survivors and victims had to break to defend themselves and take cover.
