Ms. Schamis is one of those teachers that you love and remember for the rest of your life. She sounds like an amazing teacher like one of many that I have been fortunate to have in my life. Your student's do become like your children in a way, whether you have to push them or love them to improve their education, the relationships you form when you have a truly caring teacher is wonderful. There is no excuse for what happened at Sandy Hook, what happened at Stone Wall Douglas, or any other school in the United States. None.

I like that she gave so much detail about how that class was going, right up until the shooting started. Especially the joy she spoke of when the kids knew the answer to her question. I imagine it would be in some way heartwarming to the parents to hear her account - while at the same time of course it highlights how senseless and tragic the whole incident was for all directly involved, and for American society as a whole too.

Depending on when they got the call, who all was sent over to respond to the call, where the cops are coming from, getting to the campus, finding a safe point of entry onto campus after locating the threat, locating the classroom, having some sort of plan on how to approach the situation and engage the shooter after locating him while also figuring how to get to students without getting shot themselves and how to get students out of the building, etc. 15-20 minutes sounds reasonable. Its clear that the AR 15 is the gun of choice for mass murder. Just make the purchase more regulated don't ban it there are many that are responsible firearm users. To get a firearm in my country you need to go for training to get firearm competency certificate, once you have that you can buy the gun and submit an application for the weapon in the application you have to justify the weapon so for an AR15 you would have to show affiliation to hunting or security bodies that show the need for such a weapon sport and combat shooting would be acceptable. As part of the application the police will visit your house and ask to see where the gun is stored which must be in a safe secured to the wall and floor they may also speak to neighbours and ask for a testimonial from friends as to your character. After all of the above which takes many months or even a year you will get your licence which is valid for 5 to 10 years where after you would need to reapply. Only once you have the licence can you fetch your gun. I always felt the process was longwinded but maybe not considering any 18+ yearly idiot can buy an AR 15 with thousands of rounds of ammunition in the USA and shoot up a school, a street party etc the USA has an issue because if they institute the process detailed above the gun industry worth billions will get its legs cut out so its easier to let people die than do what is right. Just make it difficult for the wrong people to get the gun Last comment based on my viewing of the Uvalde shooting those All the cops except the elite border patrol need to lose weight how do you save people when you have to waddle around their ballistic vests barely cover their bodies, I was horrified.
