Pete also casually tore a ligament doing a horrible heel hook during a video between Midtbø and himself and still felt fine enough to try to do a few more climbing attempts. The tearing was not meaningful as he is now back to his usual strength but still.

So I just watched 20 minutes of men hanging from a rod. Just hanging and falling off. I never even noticed the time - totally engaged by guys doing basically nothing. Genius level editing and film story telling guys! It has long been the case that 'part' of why Storror is what Storror is - the film making is as good as any and incredibly consistent, week on week on week. Pete is an ironman without an ounce of tough guy energy about him. What you might call a 'sleeper' when it comes to toughness. A spectacular display of both body and mind power/endurance. A gripping movie in which very little happened.

Found Storror recently and this is an amazing crossover! Fascinating to compare Pete's grip (knuckles almost on top of the bar) and the way he is able to engage his muscles from fingertip to toes. When he would hang by one arm, his body would curve to that side as he engaged the whole torso, hip, and leg rather than rely on joint strength to bar his weight. Awesome study of technique!

Apart from being an insanely strong climber, he was taking frequent breaks to shake off and let the blood back into his arms. If you time it well then it's just tolerating the pain, rest then repeat as he explained at the end. Pete is a machine! And such a lovely guy as well. I think my favourite part of doing competitive sport (mine was synchronised swimming) was how high a pain tolerance it gives you. Now I’m really into cold water swimming, and the look people give you when you walk past them in just a swimsuit when they’ve got full winter gear for -10C and a foot of snow is priceless! Also breath holding/under competitions are a breeze.

three minutes is honestly really good, I tried this at the gym and could only do a minute and a half and I thought I had decent grip strength

@@holliswilliams8426a lot of this has more to do with grip endurance rather than strength, and much more about your shoulder and back strength and stability.

With all the trad and crack climbing Pete does as well as all the endurance training and challenges. He definitely takes the crown as the worlds grittiest climber! He just seems to have this superpower to be able to stand pain.
