I'm completely on your side about keeping the Haunted Mansion as original as possible. They're making another Haunted Mansion movie with Guillermo del Torro as director, and while I'm sure it's going to be amazing, I really hope they don't let it influence any changes they make to the ride the way they did with Pirates of the Caribbean!

One of my best memories are from this ride . We kept hearing ppl scream when we were in line and i thought it was wierd. When we got to the hall part of the ride i noticed the new suit of armor but didnt think anything of it but right when our car got next to it the damn thing lunged at me . I screamed bloody murder and the guys in the car behind us laughed their ass off !

I was disappointed that they tossed the pop-up ghosts as it was the only part of the ride that I ever thought of as being "scary". I also thought the bride with the glowing red heart was always memorable and was confused as to why they removed her.
@memelord76435 жыл бұрын
I read the backstory its actually pretty horrifying the backstory is basically she was a money whore i think that was the case what she kept on doing is getting married and chopping off the heads of her husbands that's why she's always weilding an axe and the pictures altered to the heads being removed

I love how the Claude Coats' train of thought for a darker scarier haunted mansion was later echoed by imagineer Jeff Burke, and how a much darker and grim version of the Haunted Mansion found it's way to Europe in the form of Phantom Manor in Disneyland Paris. You can still see how Phantom Manor's design also harkens back to earlier designs by Harper Goff. Phantom Manor or "Ravenswood Manor" as it is unofficially known has quite a tragic backstory, and lacks most of the whimsical elements the Original American versions have. It is funny to see how all these versions have similar, yet different themes.

But mostly i wanted to comment to say thank you for including captions in your video - I have an audio processing disorder and while i don't always have trouble, your speed made it nearly impossible for me to follow without them. I clicked them on a whim not expecting to find any, or just the auto-captioning (which is never good) and I was pleasantly surprised to find actual captions! This means a lot to me and definitely gets you my subscription. :)

This was great! I do wish you'd focus more on the exterior changes (especially as they are about to begin changing a lot again in January, 2024). I began going to Disneyland in about 1974, so I've seen most of these changes (missed the punchable armored knight, though) and I was looking for images of those changes over the years. I think a lot has happened in the attic from how it started to how it is now. Maybe this is all covered in your "Evolution" video... 🙂

Very interesting but how did you not include the gun shot in the dancing scene and how the only way to replace that glass is to take the roof off? That is like my favorite trivia about the ride.
@satanicsuicide6666 жыл бұрын
When I went to California a few years ago, I rode this version of the ride multiple times just to see if I could spot where the glass was hit. I love how they fixed it on the cheap too! Instead of ripping off the roof, and closing the ride for months to repair. they put a fake plastic spider on it and left it as is because it looked like a spiders web. I think it was a brilliant idea, and a very cheap yet effective way to fix the ride without closing it down for months on end! :D

As for the bride changes, I would have mentioned that the tone of the bride was significantly changed in the 90's. Before, she was mysterious; you weren't sure if she was sympathetic or threatening. The change in the 90's made it much clearer that she was sympathetic. The picture at 9:32 is one of WDW's brides.

I find it interesting how the Mystic Manor, Disneyland Hong Kong's version of the Haunted Mansion, shows more light-hearted elements that was more child-friendly spooky. In the late 80’s-early 90’s The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland Paris had Horror Legend Vincent Price do the voice you hear as you go through the ride. He unfortunately struggled with the French script but they went ahead and taped him doing the script in both French and English. His French recording lasted for a short time. But after they replaced his recording they still played a recording of his evil laugh! There is a video of his recording sessions and a video of his narration (whatever you want to call it) in English both videos are (in my opinion) amazing/glorious 🤓
