This show is very charming and wholesome but I love its darker jokes too ("Inspiring twitches"). Also I love the dark references to the town history - the chief tied to the tree in front of the cannon was like a horrifying Looney Tunes image

I've never watched a compilation of all the history of Pawneean settlers and the Wamapoke Indians; I really should. Every one is just fantastic. Because the joke is "they are way more cheerful about it than you'd think, but yeah that sounds about right."

My respect for amy poehler increased significantly while watching this show. I never disliked her but i didn't realize how good she is. I knew of her from weekend update but maybe i was too young to appreciate her there

It's actually crazy how good of an actress Amy Pohler is. Her, Offerman, and Pratt *made* the show (Rob Lowe was pretty good too).

I'm with you on this one for sure, episode 5 despite how much people dont like season 1, I always really liked and it still makes me laugh. My fav joke is when Ann leaves the table mad and the other secretly gay guy tells Leslie its okay you guys are like everyone else of course you can fight lmao. Can't wait for season 2!

Season 1 is much more consistent than Office season 1, it's definitely not something you have to cautiously warn people "it'll get good later" unless they're a real snob. But, it's true that season 2 makes a clear effort to rearrange the few things that weren't working.

Episode 3: Mark, you're an idiot. Episode 4: "Don't expect much" At least Andy is honest about his laziness. Tom is not helping. At all. Ron defending Leslie. Great moment. Episode 5: How does Tom still have a job? Leslie is so innocent in the world of politics. I'm surprised since her mother is not afraid to get her hands dirty. It hurts me to see Leslie and Ann fight. But, fortunately, they don't stay mad at each other for long.

People say the same thing about Always Sunny but I think people confuse "getting better" with "getting good". Both shows start off solid they just get better and better over time.
