One of the things that shows how well-written this show is is how Leslie empathizes with the townspeople. Being a steamroller and inclined to believe her perception of reality, she perceives positivity in all their nonsense, which fuels her irrational hopes. This drives her to pursue projects and give her best to the people, ultimately making her an incredible leader, whereas most people would just get fed up and resign. Been in leadership myself, and you need Leslie's heart to lead in today's world.
