Good observation. Ron Swanson isn't cynical, he's deeply proud, independent and sensitive and therefore deeply guarded. It takes a lot of time and work to get to know and understand him but for those who do, it's a much deeper connection.

@Jayn-Sync While I find most imitation meat thoroughly unpleasant, I think its worthwhile actually improving this aspect of food technology. If they can make veggies zero in on meat in terms of taste and nutrients, we could stop farming animals for food, which is a pretty significant factor in greenhouse gas emission (and you know, the whole butchering-living-things-after-keeping them-in-horrid-conditions as an industry). But until then, unfortunately I'll be having my regular ol cheeseburgers.

Honestly I want to like Parks and Rec as I really like April & Ron's characters (as I have seen on youtube). The issue though is that, they are the support cast and the main cast is generally Leslie, Ann or Tom, whom I do not like. So I can never really get into the show.
