There are probably a hundred people somewhere in this thread discussing the obvious, but it's only now, after all these years, I've finally made the connection that April's parents are so awkward with Ron and run away because they are Duke Silver's biggest fans and he's standing in their doorway.

@RuDuffEnough WellRu Fair enough, if you know better. But, they do apparently have all Duke Silver's albums, so that April was able to recognise him the day they met. So, it's at least possible the Parks and Rec crew decided to work with that.
@alanhindle31492 жыл бұрын
@RuDuffEnough WellRu I see what you're saying, and it is a really solid point. But there are also people still pulling apart the writing of Shakespeare and Dante and others to find meaning and angles they didn't see before. Not that I am equating Parks and Rec with Shakespeare, obviously. Also, actors take what's on the written page and change it, make it work on their own level, too. And, if I AM just reading into it my own interpretations, well, that's the fun of art and storytelling, too.

If he is trying to repel people, that works. I would be scared to even enter his office & the amount of fear I experience even in TV shows where they point a gun at the screen, I jump. I don't have time to unpack real guns & don't have the energy for a debate, so I'll get a little niche here: I am part of some nerdy interests that involve dressing in costume & people can even get rather creative with making a toy gun look like something sci-fi but the minute it's pointed at me, I may leave suddenly. With people who do it repeatedly (& the type who are part of social circle so they are harder to avoid) sometimes I try to set a boundary but if they whine about me being a baby, I may just cut ties. Boundaries tend to be hard to hear so I understand a little defensiveness & maybe even that well-intentioned people will forget sometimes. I don't show up to a laser tag or paintball invite & I don't judge people who love such things. I just choose my company & environment as best I can, then deal with everything that either can't be anticipated or avoided, as it comes up. As I said at beginning, whatever real gun topics come up from this long comment I made, I will do my best to avoid the bait, while recognizing these are important topics that inspire much-needed debate, though KZbin comment sections aren't typically when change is made.

From the way the actress played it, I think she did know. She mentioned how excited she was to meet him and had been waiting a long time waiting. Definitely had the energy of a fan. @@roems6396 you would say that is an incredible deduction of the two characters relationship. As both are not related, yet share qualities that unite them both when paired together. Creating a more father/daughter dynamic. Thus giving us (the viewer) satisfaction when their personalities combine which allows for a very humourable effect.

Would have been funnier if they told her it was 186 meetings and she should take 93 of them😂😂

@@jesseg8298 I tried watching the first couple of episodes... wasn't impressed. But these clips make me want to give at least the first seasons a chance. Alas, I dropped Netflix like a bad habit back in 2016.

Ron has the vibes of several people I know. It’s crazy. Hes what my military simulation gaming friends will become as they age. Maybe he doesn’t want to take meetings or phone calls because he’s busy playing Arma 3 and Warthunder. Yet if my grandpa worked in a government office maybe he’d be this grumpy.
