Ron meditating accidentally is actually hilarious
@pdruiz2005
@pdruiz2005 Жыл бұрын
That's why Ron radiates zen mindfulness. He's right--you shouldn't try hard at all. That's one of the secrets of great meditation. It's when you try to make it into a chore or exercise that MUST BE DONE that meditation then, paradoxically, doesn't come to you. It's very similar to sleep. The Chinese actually prize this state of mind of "not trying so hard." It's called "wu wei." So it's great the Ron stumbled upon that truth about life without reading any of the Buddhist or Daoist scriptures or any self-help book.

7:20 just perfectly shows what a great manager/boss Chris is. Makes him realise what he did wrong without making it personal, and made it clear what he needs to do, without micromanaging. He also didn't undermine Ron by saying anything at the BBQ. Then the instant feedback on a job well done with gratuitous smile. He's such a well written character!

I could definitely understand how it might be viewed as deception, given Ron had no idea how he got there and seemed like he was tricked, but I think persuasion would be more accurate. I don't think that it was implied that Chris lied about what he was doing or was being underhanded at any point. I do think however it was heavily implied that he was just so convincing in his charisma that he got Ron to come with him of his own accord. Ergo, Ron was persuaded not deceived.

1:55 Props to Chris though; the second he knew he was wrong, he admitted it and changed his policy. If only all people in politics and government could follow that lead.

5:09; I love that Cris's excitement at seeing the young pig immediately turns to concern because he knows Ron well enough to see what's coming. I grew up in a rural area, and think that a lot more people really need to know where their food comes from.

I always laugh when I hear, "there is a sign at the park that says do not drink the sprinkler water. Well I made a tea with it and now I have an infection." It's almost like there's a sign that says, "DO NOT DRINK THE SPRINKLER WATER!"

I like how in all the scenes (not just shown here) where Chris is anxious about becoming a father, he takes the things Ron is teaching him way beyond face value and showing that he actually does know what it takes to be a father, he just needs some wild metaphor to draw that knowledge out, in a way he can understand.

I’ve never watched this show, but I’m an assistant manager and watching this clip makes me realize that my management style is a mix of both Ron and Chris. I’m an optimistic pessimist. I show encouragement and enthusiasm when it comes to employee morale, but I’m also very real about every situation and hate when I have to actually put my best foot forward. And it works for me. My employees love me and relate well to me, and customers either love me because I do my job right and help them, or they hate because they don’t like being told that they’re wrong. Makes me want to binge the show now. Lol

17:31 Chris praising April for her snarky comment is great. He's able to recognize her motivations and understand that to make that comment effectively meant she had been paying attention to what he was saying well enough to subvert his expectactions.

I firmly believe Chris Traeger one day achieved his dream of living to the age of 150 years. And that he was the second man to do so, after Ronald Ulysses Swanson.

I think the opposite. I bet he lived a long time, but not anything crazy like that. One of his character arcs is that he finally realizes that it’s better to live a free, fulfilling life than to live a super strict, unfulfilling life that lasts an additional 50 years.
