Virginia's WEIRD Coaster Name Changes for 2025!

My favorite coaster in Virginia is a thrilling Intamin steel coaster called Panthe...n.

I like the new name for Intimidator 305, but I also think the jungle theming was a mistake because Flight of Fear is still right next to it. What they should've done was give it a space theme similar to Orion at Kings Island, and then put that ride and Flight of Fear in a new area similar to Area 72 at Kings Island.

Let's be honest, having Flight of Fear right there isn't too far-fetched from the theme. It adds a sci-fi element to the area and having a UFO crash landing in the jungle hits right on the nose for the overall theme of the area.

Interesting that a family coaster will be seeking revenge for a thrill coaster. I wish KD would have followed the Tumbili formula, which is Swahili for monkey/primate and gone with Namiri, which is Swahili for big cat/panther. They could have had the first "i" sit a bit higher as you pointed out in "Pantherian," but also I think the "Nam" in Namiri lightly pokes fun at the fact that this is the 3rd nam(e) in 3 years, making it easy to remember.

I had actually known about the ride before they announced it because I was on a Busch gardens coaster tour and they had told us that there was going to be a ride similar to phoenix rising

It's already about finding an alien spacecraft. I think it fits in fine as yet another find in the Jungle X-Pedition area. The aliens are the ones that made the six temples. Maybe just give the exterior a little more jungle look.

I think I like the new Intimidator name. Also it "panth air ian" is the closest I can pronounce it through text, though I can see some dialects pronouncing it panther + ian without accentuating the "er" to "air". Adding a 305 to the end would still be cool though

I live in Virginia and Kings Dominion is my home park. I can't wait for next year to ride Sex Panther. Works 60% of the time, every time.

if it's a strait up clone of Phoenix Rising, it probably won't be that thrilling to most fans of Big Bad Wolf as that is geared as a family coaster. So unless they make the new Big Bad Wolf a lot more intense with larger drops and faster speeds, it won't live up to the old Big Bad Wolf.

My only concern with the theming change for i305 is that this could mean the removal or returning of Flight of fear and they still haven’t given anaconda the refresh to jungle X and backlot stunt coaster too… it really feels like they should have focused on the part leading up to FoF first. Not to mention that means if they retheme all that area just to jungle xpedition that would be 7/ 12 coasters just to the one theme and it feels super lazy tbh. They should have left i305 and flight of fear and made it a smaller themed mini land like Kings island did with their FoF and Orion. Do they think the theme is what people didn’t like about Orion? Hell, keep it Project 305 or maybe Operation 305 or something like that. Instead we get a ride themed to a panther (a jungle cat) in a big open field painted like a cheetah…

I honestly think that it won't be hard to theme an alien lab in the middle of the jungle. I don't think they have to change much theming there aside from maybe the outside decorations. Plus they revamped the theming indoors around the station somewhat recently

KD refurbished and even change some theming elements for FOF, so removal is off the table. They also said early in the season that the three remaining coasters in Jungle X without jungle theming will be themed to the jungle for their 50th anniversary.

@ so we’re just gonna have a military base in the middle of jungle X … let me guess it’s a military base… IN THE JUNGLE. Just feel like the whole panther theme could have been used for backlot and do a major overhaul of it to be a temple for a panther god instead of the cityscape theming

Cheeto 305 🤔. Both names no actually all 3 names are terribly lame IMO. Rapterra a B&M wing with a bird theme lame and unoriginal. Panterian is way too close to Pantheon and locals and enthusiasts will still call it Intimidator or i305. The wordy rehash of BBW will not live up to the original unless the supposed prototype swinging trains that I had heard rumors about for Phoenix Rising in Tampa were saved for BBW 2.0 The love and memories that we have as Virginians for the Arrow BBW is astounding everybody I know rode that as their first major coaster and gave a lot of us our passion for rollercoasters Both these parks are essentially in my back yard I'm excited to see the parks spending money to include new attractions I did enjoy the video and you should definitely come check out the new addition to each park as 2025 is gonna be a good one for VA regardless of names
