3:22 Removal: Sometimes a piece of pipe from your local hardware store will fit. You'd hammer against it and some wood for a lower chance of scratches. 3:49 string will also do.

First time I see this type of BB.

I am building a bike with a frame meant for a press fit bb. I am guessing from this comment at 1:40 that you can replace a press fit bb with a thread together bb. Am I correct in thinking that?

There are Thread Together models available for most every press fit standard.

Thank you.

Why wouldn't you use this method @4:10 every time? Looks like you'd avoid potential bearing or frame damage completely.
@parktool5 жыл бұрын
Often doing that re installs the cup that you just removed and can be more difficult. If the proper tool is around it is much better.

I found and use a similar product for my BB90 BB after experiencing the dreadful creak on one of my rides.

Couldn't you just thread the cups together and tighten them with two tools instead of using a press?
@Mark-ry1ph2 жыл бұрын
You can't because only the non-drive side is press-fit?
@lekkerbek-em8lq2 жыл бұрын
Can the token ninja. No press

use the drive side cup to remove the non drive side. This implies not to remove totally the drive side cup and proceed as described with the wood and hammer..... nice and easy :-)

Hello, I'm a fan of this page. I'm wondering if I can use this to my frame that has a loose thread housing(where you place the bottom bracket)????? Thank you
@parktool3 жыл бұрын
There is no thread-together system for a threaded bottom bracket as seen here. However, Velo Orange does offer a similar system that does not need internal threads. This is only available for the square spindle type of cranksets.

Is there a better term for this kind of bb?

Can i use thread together BB as an alternative BB? The thread on my bike for the BB has worn out.

Is there a threadless bottom bracket for loose thread bottom bracket shell??
@parktool2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but currently only for square spindle bottom brackets. Search the term Sunlite BB SET SUNLT REPAIR THRDLS

Can I re-use a thread-together bb (Wheels Mfg) that has been properly removed and whose bearings feel smooth like butter, or is that a risky proposition? It is going right back into the same bike/bb shell that it was removed from (friend wanted to try some Cobb cranks, but didn't like them). I have reached out to Wheels Mfg but haven't heard back. Thank you!

You can reuse a thread together bottom bracket without issue.

I know i am late but i want to ask if i can use retaining compound with a thread-together bb, would that not be better than grease or antiseize? i ask because i replaced my bb and the creaking is still there on the power stroke and i used grease. i suspect a badly made frame, but its hard to know....
@parktool Жыл бұрын
You can use retaining compound on a thread together bottom bracket. Use it where the frame meets the bottom bracket. it will take up space and prevent movement.

Is it ok to use PPL-1 in the bb shell of my carbon Scott genius? I'm installing a Hope PF41 screw together bb made from aluminium using Hope's installation tool.

Hi Park Tool, how do I go about replacing the cartridge bearings in a thread together PF30? Mine are sluggish and gritty
@parktool4 жыл бұрын
Currently the best way is to replace the entire bottom bracket. There may be something coming out soon that will allow you to replace just the bearings.

i need help, i have my 2018 specialized tarmac sl4 sport, run with the original bottom bracket which is Praxis alba m30 with praxis works crankset (CRANKSET: Praxis Alba M30, solid forged arms, 6061 chainrings, 110 BCD, 11-speed) and i want to change them to shimano hollowtech, i already bought shimano hollowtech crankset (FC-6800). The question is what type/model of shimano bottom bracket should i use and do i also need sleeve? thanks you guys, all answers are appreciated.
@parktool5 жыл бұрын
My best guess is that specialized calls the BB on your bike an OSBB. But it is really a BB30 on that model. Shimano does not make a BB30 bottom bracket. you will need to find a BB30 to Shimano Hollowtech conversion bottom bracket. Praxxis as well as many others offer options for you. Hope this helps.
