I'll all but guarantee that this was the first and only take. Take note of where he's screaming without vocals in the song. This is going to be more real than many people will want to deal with but, there's the kind of pain this song is about. It was Feb of 1994, my junior year of high school, and I'd just recently turned 17. I awoke to the sound of my father pleading with my step-mother to wake up, a sound it would take nearly a decade to get out of my head. We called 911, he went back to her, and I went out the garage where I fell to my knees and begged God, through my tears, to save her. Instead, I saw her arm fall off of the stretcher, out from under the sheet that covered her, as they carried her lifeless body out of the house. God died inside of me that night; my father spiraled into deep alcoholism. My life was pain and rage, with very few bright spots (my high school had also experienced a shooting less that two-years prior, on May 1st, 1992). This song captures that moment in time perfectly. It got to a point where I was like, "fuck you and telling me it'll be alright, how the fuck do YOU know?" Drowning them in their well wishes... their wishing wells. All in all, I've lost around 30-people from my life and about half of them came in 1999, alone. This is a level of rage that most people will not experience and it's good for them that they won't. It takes a lot of work to come back from that and a lot of people don't make it. In fact, our prisons are filled with people who couldn't handle the rage created by their trauma.

Oh and he isn’t standing , he’s legit upside down and went in and did a one and done take .

Here we have another person who believes everything they read and then regurgitates misinformation. Stop spreading this absolute nonsense, he was not upside down. You can literally see the sweat and spit fall downwards, if he was upside down it would have fallen upwards.

This whole album is like a journey through grief and loss. It works very well from front to back and I would highly recommend listening to the whole album.

That's exactly the purpose of the album of this song - Reverence.
@mrrockguy93114 жыл бұрын
Fun fact: One of their underrated songs, The Colour of Leaving, the audio recording is the only take they could get without Winston breaking down in tears. The whole album of Reverence is about grief, both for the listeners, and what the bands has gone through the past 3 years prior to the albums release. Horizons is widely regarded as their stand alone masterpiece, however, Reverence is truly a masterpiece on its own for how well they compel emotion and grief into the lyrics, vocals, and instruments. PWD gets backlash over their change in metal over the last 6 or so years but they've done it so well. Just an incredible example of a band maturing and creating their own unique sound in each album.

Reverence is my favorite album by them. There's so much passion in all the songs on the album. Plus they did a great job in the melodic element. All the instruments and vocals sync so well. Masterpiece in my eyes.

Plus they headlined second stage at Download in 2018. Although that wasn't that great (through no fault of their own) as Guns N' Roses had a 3½ hour set and they finished up basically all the other stages by 7:30 so everyone could catch GnR. Still pretty hot in the sun and fully daylight, so all the fire they use just didn't have the same visual impact and pretty much burnt the crowd to a crisp 😅

These boys are ours from the land down under, Australia. Probably why they are not as common in your parts as the US bands.

You are good reacionist(?). But one advice. The best reacions are with 2-3 times stoping music in order not to loose groove and flow. In first two minutes you stopped 4 times and I can't feel and focus on the music. And the best synopsis are after the song when you have whole picture.

This is the end result of constant loss with the whole religious cushion being nothing but a joke . This is what it sounds like when you lose everything you had and all you wish for is a reason or something to crush to make it right again .
