Parnis Daytona Panda Chronograph Unboxing/First Impressions

Sorry for awkwardly NOT staring at the camera, first time doing this type of vid, so ended up watching myself on my monitor instead of looking at the camera... Live and learn! I'll have some comparisons between all my panda chronos soon in the near future, but I've been getting asked a lot about Parnis Daytona vs Alpha Daytona and I'll say this for now: If you want a fully mechanical watch or the charm of a vintage watch, go Alpha. The Parnis has much better build quality and finish and honestly looks like a luxury watch, but is only a hybrid mechanical, so the second hand ticks like a quartz, but the chronograph second hand sweeps like a mechanical. There is an unusual amount of Seiko VK63 mecaquartz chronographs floating around Ali, paying homage to either the Speedmaster or the Daytona. Wonder how they all compare. Parnis looks to be better than the lot for now

@@ChronometerCheck I'd actually owned a MM025 with a ST25 movement years back and they were pretty good as watches go. The seagull movement was a beauty, fairly accurate and the action was smooth. It's too bad that when I gifted it to my father, he dropped/broke it after a few weeks. It cost me around SGD$90/USD$65. And sure enough, I was quoted the same exact amount just to fix it (Could have bought a brand spankin' new one for the price). Hope yours treat ya right and manage to avoid the fate of death by getting knocked off the table in a misbegotten bid to search for one's glasses

looks like the subdial at 9 O'clock has an imperfection where the inner white meets the black, that would bother me every time I put it on, thoughts?

Exercise caution when dealing with Parnis. I purchased a Pepsi GMT and Panda Daytona from them. After two months they still haven’t mailed me my watches or refunded my money. They blocked me on Instagram and wouldn’t respond to emails when I complained. Beware that they may steal your money.

Really enjoyed the video. Keep them coming!...lol! Should have reset the chro ograph to make it clear what kind of Seiko hybrid movement it has. Does it flyback or smoothly rotate back to zero?

It's a Seiko VK63 I believe. Really solid hybrid movement. Flyback!! Kinda makes me appreciate it over my Orent NEO70s which doesn't have a flyback. Thanks for the support Dan!

The subdials....the number area look like they're not exact...like it's larger in one area and smaller in another...like the subdial cutouts is not really a circle and the white sub circle isn't quite a circle...on all 3

I know exactly what you're saying, there's a thin silver polished embossing around the subdials that are reflecting light on some edges and making it appear irregularly shaped. It's not like that in person, they're perfectly circular.

No, definitely not. Slightly smaller. Only 39mm diameter. Similar lug to lug.

I also have this watch and the clasp really sucks cause it doesn't open up all the way. Just a royal pita to get on/off and doesn't get a lot of wrist time. Kinda small too but overall I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend it on value alone but the main appeal for me is the looks. You might be interested in checking out the Hyakuichi hyaku1-03, it's an Aquaterra GMT 231.10.44.52.04.001 homage and also a damn good looking watch. It has a Miyota FS16 (26?) so the second hand lacks the smooth sweep. I haven't seen any reviews of it so maybe it'd attract viewers to your channel but then again not too many ppl have heard of it lol.

I made an offer and provided links to the cheaper prices but would've paid $150. This is one of my favorite watches and gets the most wrist time along with my Citizen NY0080-12X. Hi. I too have this watch, bought from mywatchcode, found them to be very reliable, but I too hated the clasp so I changed it for one from aliexpress. Just to note I had to drill out the last strap link with a 2mm drill bit to get it to accept the screw in pins on the new clasp but that was no big deal. Love it now, see link for clasp. Don't kid yourself, no one who is actually considering a real Daytona, would buy this for any reason other than to try it on and see if they like the look.

@@martinstephenson4311 If you truly like the look, Seiko makes a chrono that has this exact same aesthetic without copying the shape, design, textures, almost one for one. Zenith also makes the Chronomaster Sport, which is often criticized to take too much inspiration from the Daytona, it shares a very similar look, arguably better. It's a fraction of the price of even the Daytona at MSRP, let alone grey prices.
