Great tutorial! To illuminate your point about it’s best to troll downstream because the fish are moving upstream, some anglers use the analogy of driving a car against traffic flow on the freeway. By doing so, you’ll encounter far more cars (fish) than you do when driving with traffic flow. Makes sense to me.

I think bands are great places to fish. As the water turns it cuts through the middle make it much deeper for the salmon. The fish also slow down around these bands some of them won’t even hold up and rest depending on if it’s the incoming or outgoing tide

What model Lund is that?Im impressed with those boats and have been looking at the 1875..Are you happy with the boat?

I have a North River now. I liked the lund, not if your trying to go into saltwater though. They arent designed for it so things will corrode faster. I had to redue all my wiring to the battery for example. Biggest problem with Lund in my opinion is they arent welded, the boat is held together by rivets. When I was on lake sonoma drifting for bass i went over a submerged tree which loosened a couple rivets. This caused more rivets over time to come lose. Eventually I would take on a good amount of water. I took it to the lund dealer and only option to fix was to send to factory and be without boat for 9months. fix was $6-8k because whole boat has to be stripped including gas tank and all. It can not be welded because there is two layers glued together and welding looseness the glue and causes different issues. I ended up selling the boat with the leaks.

What do you clean your lures with? And check regs on jigging lures can you find out if any jig over an ounce in the rivers is only a single hook and can't use a treble hook!!! Enjoyed the video had a lot of information thanks

But i have a alum fishing boat now too. So your video very helpful. I have one question, would u recommend downrigger here in sac river? I knw we used them in the ocean alot with my kayak and divers but im worried im going to get hung up alot since river bottom has alot of debris, tree brances and rocks. I know i get snag alot throwing those Flying C from the bank so just imagine on a boat.

yeah there are big boats out there. anchor and use the killerfish on the back troll. big boats go in at discovery, thats where I go. It is pretty shallow but I havent seen any issues. Thanks for watching!

2 rods on sacramento river is fine with 2 rod stamp. You do not need barbless hooks

As far as the rules about how much a lure weighs in relation to how many hooks or something...I don’t fully understand it, and does it apply to the metro area of the sac and I like to fish up the American to about sac state. I like a little bit heavier than 2 oz jig, can I use 3-4 oz instead? Edit: i usually fish the shore with flying Cs, this year I have a nice little aluminum to get out to the holes and troll and stuff.

I cast out a 8-10oz sinker with a large barrel swivel 3ft above. Then use a clip on sinker slide and attach your kwickfish leader. Send it down the current and walk it down to your swivel

river, so the depth changes quick and shallow. lake or ocean is deep with no snags. your downriggers will get snagged on all the junk in sacramento river or hit bottom. hope that helps. thanks for watching

Where did you launch? I was at Discovery Park at 9am today and the homeless vagabonds were bum-rushing people when they were trying to pay for boat launch at the kiosk. That place is a hell hole. I need a safer place to launch. Everyone beware of the dangers of the drugged out criminal street trash in Downtown Sacramento.

yeah that kiosk is sketchy. I worry when I am there too, leave car door open and always keeping my head up. The one on other side of river is even worse. vehicles are always getting stuck at miller.
