Thanks for posting this video, very informative! I went out this past Sunday to troll the flashers and Brad's cut plugs for the first time ever. As you mentioned I wasn't expecting much this early in the season but I figured it was a good time to get everything dialed in before things heat up. Really enjoy all your videos!

Thanks glad the videos help ! This area isn’t the prettiest and there is a homeless problem.. but the fishing here is awesome! The lakes , rivers, delta the bay and the ocean! It’s one of the only reasons I stay! So if you love to fish you will love it! Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions..

What brand tuna do you use in your cut plug? How do you prepare the tuna before you fish it?
@ReelLifeFisherman5 жыл бұрын
It doesn't really matter what brand.. I just use whatever is cheaper or what my wife has in the cupboard! Lol.. I just use tuna in water or the stuff in the pouch.. I will add pro cure bloody tuna on top of it.. or sometimes I will marinade it in pautzke's nectar.. but that is my super secret sauce.. shhhh.. 😉

Where did you get the LED lights on the inside of your boat. They look like a very thin mounted led light strip.

We tried this setup today with no luck in Walnut Grove. We had some problems with it getting tangled pretty bad. Have you had any experience with tangling frequently using this setup? If so what do you think might be the cause?
@ReelLifeFisherman5 жыл бұрын
So first off I would make sure are not dragging the bottom.. what size weight are you using? I use a 10oz.. and make sure you are using a spreader and a 18" dropper.. and make sure you have a swivel or trolling swivel at every connection.. but most importantly check your rod constantly.. watch the action.. if you see the action change from the one solid pump a second.. make sure your not dragging.. it takes a few times to get the feel for it.. let me know if you have any questions.. thanks for watching

Great Informative Video!! What type of line are you Using on Your Reels and your leader? More Info On The SPREADER SET UP PLEASE?
@ReelLifeFisherman5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Glad you liked the video.. I prefer to use 50lb braid on my reels and I use 30lb mono on my leaders.. for cut plug trolling.. but on my cheaper rod, I have 30lb mono the whole way.. it's a good idea to run 12lb on the weight dropper in case you get snagged.. let me know if you have any other questions.. thanks for watching!

How about anchor fishing with a kiwifish lure and how long of a leader and dropper in Sacramento river
@ReelLifeFisherman5 жыл бұрын
I use a 3' leader also on the kwikfish and about a 10" dropper on anchor or back drifting.. I will be doing a different video soon for each style of salmon fishing in all of our different stretches of river.. thanks for watching! Tight lines

How fast do you normally troll with cut plugs
@ReelLifeFisherman5 жыл бұрын
Robert Roesser so what you are looking for is the rod tip pumping once a second.. but usually that is somewhere between 3.5 to 3.8 mph down river..

What depth do you fish for salmon in
@ReelLifeFisherman5 жыл бұрын
Awesome to hear you are back out on the water.. congratulations on your boat! I normally do set length passes and try different lanes.. one left center.. then all the way left.. right center until I can figure a pattern..
@robertroesser69715 жыл бұрын
@@ReelLifeFisherman so your not looking at the depth just looking for a pattern I try to look between 15 to 25 feet deep does that sound right

Headed out next week for the first time on the Sacramento River, I have a tracker pro guide 165 . Where are some good areas to hit?
@ReelLifeFisherman5 жыл бұрын
If you plan on trolling.. from discovery park all the way down to Rio Vista is good! But from discovery to down past Miller Park is a good troll.. from Miller down to Freeport is good troll.. Clarksburg is good.. Walnut Grove is too.. we catch fish in all of these areas .. hopefully that helps.. but all kinds of stretches of the lower Sacramento river are good trolls.. thanks for watching!

Which model Ugly Stik Tiger would be best for trolling the Sacramento Delta area for salmon ? What are the specs of the one you use ?
@ReelLifeFisherman4 жыл бұрын
The ones I currently use are Phenix 806 abyss .. if you want a good rod that won’t be too expensive.. I would get the uglystik tiger 8’ medium..and a line counter reel is nice but not absolutely Necessary .. let me know if you have any questions.. thanks for watching

@@ReelLifeFisherman Great & thanks. New to trolling and I'm trying to get everything now before salmon season as stocks are low everywhere due to supply line issues. Reggie's in south Sacramento has tons of inventory compared to the big stores and I picked up an Okuma Convector CV354-DLX line counter, a Daiwa Lexa 300 line counter and everything else.....like a kid in a candy store. He owns the bait shop at McEvoy's in Bay Point but that place is only a fraction of the south Sacramento store. Thanks again and I appreciate the knowledge and experience you're sharing with your videos.

Coming from Wa. Columbia river. If I give you a suggestion. The warmer the water. The shorter the 360 bumper leader. Seems your 360 thump was soft. If anyone wants to ask. Ask?

Any difference in the setup as it relates to the Cut Plug vs the Super Bait? Also, have you had any luck trolling those lures without the dodger?
@ReelLifeFisherman5 жыл бұрын
I run the super bait the same way.. it has a much tighter spin than the cut plug and also works great! And I have never tried running the lure without the flasher.. i'm sure it would work.. but I feel running the flasher probably gets their attention better.. I also troll the smaller version for trout and Kokanee.. thanks for the great question and thanks for watching!

@ReelLifeFisherman5 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked the video! Yes I only troll down river.. you are looking for that reaction bite as they go by.. one pump of the rod tip a second is what you're looking for.. but usually it's between 3.5 and 4mph.. tight lines! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the positive feedback! We are working on getting the audio dialed in so I can move around and keep talking.. just work on keeping it from spiking after pauses..
