Interesting church at the 28:18 mark. Noticed two things, looks like it has been converted to a museum and that there is a Star of David in the round window... I checked and it was part of McCabe College, originally built as a school in 1899 by the Methodist church, closed in 1901 and the building was sold to the federal government for the U.S. Court House. The building served as U.S. Court House and jail until 1956, when it was purchased by the City of Skagway. In 2000, the City of Skagway celebrated its centennial and the completion of a new addition to the century-old McCabe College Building, which has served as City Hall and Skagway Museum since 1961.

I have watched this video several times. I am soon to go on my first cruise, ever, to Alaska. Self-Guided Hiking is right up my alley for something to do besides the touristy things. I have seen bears, I have seen Whales, I have been to the Arctic Circle, I have shoveled snow, rode on trains, flew in helicopters, and been pulled by dogs through the snow. I do like the spectacle of nature and after seeing your wife so taken in by it, well, I want to experience it on my schedule. Oh, your jokes are so bad, they are good and I am stealing some of them to tell my grandchildren as they think I am nuts anyway. Keep up the good work and I will keep watching, thumbs up.

I just love reflecting on how you guys began this channel to create parodies and instead became worldwide travel vloggers. It’s amazing to me. I just had my first kid so it’s gonna be a while before I get back out there. I so appreciate seeing the world through your experiences.

Beautiful scenery! Yet I hyper focused on the woolly bear caterpillars you found. 😂 As a kid in Oregon I remember finding those and when they are scared they roll up into a fuzzy ball. So cute.

Great video! We have been to Scagway once and loved it. Rode the train and toured the town. We are planning on cruising back there next year and you have given me a list of other things to see there, thank you. Making notes to save! Our cruise ship (NCL) “parked” at the end of a street and we thought that was so cool. Thanks for sharing, can’t wait to see the waterfall in your next video, I’m sure I’ll be adding that to the list also. We hiked to a waterfall in Juneau and it was awesome! -Angel

You’ve gotta go to Eklutna Lake between Anchorage and Wasilla, talk about views that’ll bring tears to your eyes. Alaska brought me to tears many times but sadly not always from scenery lol! So happy not being stationed there anymore. However, I would go be a tourist. 💙

It’s clear that Alaska is a different vibe than the southern itineraries, but it seems pretty port heavy (which is super cool). Do you recommend Alaskan cruises to those of us who are used to the Caribbean? I want to try Alaska and New England/Canada but I’m not sure what to expect. Thoughts?

We have people that predict winter based on the caterpillars. If they are black it means harsh weather and brown means mild. So the one in the picture would mean harsh start to winter with mild middle and harsh end.

Looks like a fun little hike, but I gotta tell you.. as a life long Alaskan, I was worried about you running into a bear, were you? Even on well established trails in Alaska you need to have a bear deterrent on you, bring bear spray if possible, consider wearing a bear bell (probably not great for vloging), and knowing how to react to a bear in different circumstances. If possible try to bring a big group of friends with you. Bears tend to run off if you have a crowd of at least 7. I’m guessing since it wasn’t in the thumbnail you’re fine, but you just never know when you’ll run across a bear here. Safe travels! And thanks for visiting
