Thank you for putting out this informative video. My mom is having this surgery as I type out this comment. To be completely honest, I am a bit terrified still, but knowing what to expect afterwards is helping massively.

Thank you so much for this. I’m having this procedure in a weeks time, and even though I’m a doctor myself, I’m really scared. I’m glad that I have told my practice manager that I’m going to be off for 2 weeks afterward.

Hi thank you for your concern, yes, I had surgery. The tumour was stuck to the ophthalmic branch of facial nerve but the surgeon was able to get it off without damaging the nerve. Whoever sewed me up afterwards (I’m guessing the registrar/resident) did an awful job, he used what looked like blanket stitch. The scar burst open in two places, behind my ear within 5 days then in front of my ear at 2 weeks after surgery requiring two courses of antibiotics. After surgery I had paresis of my upper right face for about three months afterward. I couldn’t close my right eye & I struggled with putting my stethoscope into my right ear because it was numb. I saw my surgeon 8 weeks after surgery, the tumour was a pleiomorphic adénoma that was 36mm, 4 mm under the size at which I would have had radiotherapy. Five months after surgery I found a lump under the scar below my right ear. This lump was painful to touch, I also started to notice increased sensitivity of the skin of my right jaw & ear. I also started getting episodes of excruciating pain in my right lower molars. I contacted my surgeon & he confirmed my suspicions, I have an amputation neuroma of the preauricular nerve where it was cut during surgery. He said that he could remove it by surgery under local anaesthetic but it would probably grow back & that it should settle. It hasn’t, it’s grown larger & I’m now getting drooping of the right corner of my mouth. I need to go back & see the surgeon again. I wish I could tell you that it all went well & that I’m ok but I really have struggled with the psychological impact on my identity of having surgery along with the pain from my complications. Hopefully others will have a much more positive experience than me.

Had my tumour removed in December 2019, it’s now March 2021, I still have numbness in the lower 60% of my ear, numbness down my neck and across the lower part of my jaw, I also suffer with first bite syndrome, but I can live with this it’s just a case of adapting to my new normal, I’m just glad the tumour is gone, I have an annual MRI and it hasn’t come back

May I know what does first bite syndrome means, I had parotidectomy last month and whenever I'm eating, my first chew really hurts, is that what you mean

Hi doctor, i got my parotidectomy in 2015, followed by 5 chemos and 30 radiations. After that irecovered and was quite fine for a few years. Now for past two years my ear wax gets hardened into white fungus that does not come out naturally. And i need to go to my ENT specialist every two months to get it removed. It is really depressing when my ear gets clogged and i feel partially deaf. Plz guide is there any solution to this.

Hi Doc good evening, I just have my right submandibular gland massive mass operation 1month and half. The tumor that they removed just finished for biopsy and the histopathology is 31/35 cancer cells are active and boring needs to do radio therapy because I am in the high risk. Kindly please advice me what to eat and not to eat before they will do the radio therapy in order to minimised the growth of cancer cells?

my fathers is having parotid surgery tomorrow. It is cancer, Sqirmacel salivary gland, He is going to need 5 weeks of radiation after. Is there radiation side effects like swallowing and teeth and so fourth, Pleaqse let me know your opinion, Thank you for your time,

I had my mass removed. It's almost a year now and I experienced Frey syndrome. Numbness of the ear and it's surrounding area is still here. I often get ear infection than I used to. Still glad I had it removed. If given a chance I should have done it earlier while it is still small for lesser complications.

I am at 3 weeks recovering.I had 30 stones with multiple infections. Stones in gland are reasons for surgery. My doctor admitted that he cut my nerve to my ear lobe and area below my ear. Permanent damage. He said it happens 80% of time as I was in post op recovery. He never told me that before surgery. Any one have helpful comment? Thanks
@Gary212596 жыл бұрын
8 weeks now with saliva leakage. May need more surgery, radiation. Doctors hack you up 90% of time. Impossible surgery but they love taking your money and they sleep well at night. Its all about $$ in America. No healers here.

Gary21259 sure is about the $$$$ Surgeon charged me $2400, said it was a cyst. Comes back a week later with biopsy report, now I have a seriously pissed off cancer😡 Mayo clinic is the only place I've found that has experienced doc's, maybe you should seek their opinion. I'm currently setting up an appointment with them to find out if I have any options.... $5000 deposit just to have a consultation😖😖😖 All about the $$$$$$$

Hi doc, My mom just got a parotid gland surgery, 3 days after her operation the doctor removed the hose from her neck and now it's swelling and I think it's because of the silva that are stuck in her saliva gland. What should we do doc? The hospital is very far from our home. I hope I can get a reply from you, Godbless!

Tony Germano - so sorry to hear that!! I just got diagnosed and am apprehensive to whats gonna happen. Your comment freaks me out. Is it better today?
@morryarty6 жыл бұрын
AMonikaD -worst symptoms seem to result from chemo/radiation side effects. If possible avoid these treatments. Try natural cures first, depending on how soon you were diagnosed. All the best.
@dreadrea32655 жыл бұрын
What would be some natural treatments? And if the radiation is avoided, can't it be deadly? This is all so much isn't it? I hope you are doing so much better, by the way!
@13CRAZYDAVE135 жыл бұрын
Drea Drea spinach & broccoli are specifically recommended for parotid gland cancer. Also, raising your body's PH, I'm drinking 9.5PH Kangen water & taking supplements for mine. There's some great informative video's from Dr. Moore & Dr Price at the Mayo clinic, just search Parotid gland or salivary gland cancer, then look for the Mayo clinic.... Avoid the others, poor guy in the UK😢 got his face butchered, this shit's scary enough without seeing that.
@13CRAZYDAVE135 жыл бұрын
Tony Germano radiation just kills everything period & from what I've read, chemo offers zero positive effects with this type of cancer.
