You can just tell he is so proud of his work on this last album. I can’t blame him at all. He is pushing the limits and I have no doubt he will continue to do so for the rest of his career.

They used to be a band for guitarists. Now it’s a band for drummers by a good drummer and a guitarist with too many cars and not enough drive.
@Peef_Spogdar2 жыл бұрын
@@jdjdjdjjc6535 Whats the reasoning behind the "not enough drive" part?
@jdjdjdjjc65352 жыл бұрын
@@Peef_Spogdar it’s a joke about his expensive cars and that he hasn’t innovated anything musics since Joy of Motion other than thumping 2 notes over Matt’s drum patterns

The orchestrations on the new material are something rare, you can really tell how each note has its own reason, as you can also hear the huge composing work behind the new singles. It's so refined and balanced that it makes me cry. Pure art.

6:18 Jordan Rudess did that in one of his keyboard anthologies. Each song had an etude along with it that explored one or two relevant techniques.

I've purchased some of Virgil Donati's stuff in the past. He'll use excerpts from some of his pieces as exercises to teach his experimental concepts. I'm a huge fan of the idea, musical pioneers sharing their discoveries for the edification of their fellow man.

I bought this already a week or 2 ago! Love it so far. Looking at Gordian Naught now. Regarding the supplementation... I believe you are right bro! This supplementation set up is 100% new as far as I have seen! And I've checked out a lot of what is out there. You are such a massive help to all of us in helping decode this material. It means so much that you go to the trouble to do this for us. In fact it's hard to find ANYONE at your level going to this level of service in helping others understand what you are doing. Thanks so much. P.S. Really happy to hear you are settled in Nashville! Best of luck with the new place and studio!

Hey Matt. I’ve seen something similar in Gary Chaffee, time function Patterns, using linear singles, ascending and descending, but not quiet like your explanation. Inter-splicing back to back and adding that key formula, sounding fucked up lol, is where I believe, cements your name on it, but I could be wrong. It’s difficult to explain to a 15yro the feel behind your concept until you start talking, drum language. It’s like seeing him have a light bulb moment where his eyes nearly pop out of his head. Love your work Matt. John (Dad, failed drummer) & Marcus (Living Dads Dream 😂) 🇦🇺
