GREAT Review! Scotty Kilmer was wrong about the Optima Red Top Battery. I bought one for my 94' Celica and it's the BEST battery that i have ever owned!

I will have a better idea after we get deep into our hot Texas summer but so far no complaints.

How's the battery holding up? Up here in Montana we can get batteries to last 6-10 years.

I've been buying the green interstate batteries and getting 5 years out of them. I go ahead and change them between 4 and 5 years just to make sure. I don't ever want to be broke down asking someone to give me a jump start in a parking lot in 104 degrees "feels like 120" Yeah maybe I'm wasting money by changing them before they die, but it's worth it to me. I was thinking about giving one of these optimas a try and just seeing how long I could get out of it. I've seen people get 8 to 10 years or more out of these

Mine is still going strong.

Mine has died on me multiple times during the pandemic. I have been trying to revive it for weeks. It was declared dead at the 2.5 year mark, but I managed to revive it then. It is about 5 years old now and it not faring well. I am in the north. Cheap batteries last longer than optima. They have been garbage since manufacturing moved to Mexico.

My Friend. The English have been making AGM quality batteries for many years. I have one that is 20 years old, and still cranks at 500amps. Sadly you Americans have been fed poor quality in the last 10 years, prior to that the Optima were very nice batteries. If you want a good one, buy a Hawker/Odyssey Brand .

I do think there has been slow adoption here in the US. I will check out the brand you suggested buy hopefully won' t be in the market again for a while yet. : )

@@parristx You will definitely need a new battery in a few years since the optima batteries have been junk ever since manufacturing moved to Mexico. If you want a long last battery, ever go for a north star AGM battery or a battleborne lithium battery.

But, were you aware the Optima is made in Mexico ?? Just like the Avocado LOL I bought one before knowing that and hope it last 5 years for the higher price.

I am having trouble with it it not lasting long it could be the battery when it gets cold out like 20 and 17 Degrees the battery gets Weak I change alternator out of my 2007 mustang gt 4.6 v8 and the same thing
@parristx3 жыл бұрын
So you are having trouble with it holding a charge when it gets cold? We don't usually have super cold winters here in Central Texas so I haven't noticed that.
@bennydirollo18183 жыл бұрын
It was only 28 and the low was 17 degrees for 2 days this my second battery and alternator and it still shows low charging

When Optima got bought out many years ago the quality/ life expectancy went way down. I still use AGM batteries but will never buy Optima batteries again.
@kwd574 жыл бұрын
I used those years ago, but when they started making them in Mexico, the price went up and the quality and the warranty time went down. I think AGM's are a good battery, but not the Optima's. Good luck with it though.

Take it back and get a yellow top
@parristx3 жыл бұрын
I see that YellowTops last 3 times as long as a regular battery and the RedTops 2 times. So that is an advantage- but one you pay for as the YellowTops are more expensive.
