Dustin, I've had my Anafi since April and love it. In order to learn how to use it's different options, I am constantly re-watching your videos. Your Anafi, and really all of your videos, are the best drone videos on KZbin. Thanks so much for the time and effort that you put into making them. Much appreciated!

28:00 the touch and go is pretty much the only special feature I really like. The fact that it's tied in with google maps makes it very useful. That feature along with HDR and the gimbal will likely get me to buy this drone sometime this year. I was looking for an alternative to the DJI Mavic pro 2( I think that's what it's called) and I think this drone fits that bill. 4K, HDR, stable video and good app. I wonder about the range. I don't need a crazy range like the pro 2. I just need about 2 KM.

Thanks for doing such a thorough review of one of the most interesting new drones on the market. It has some very nice features, and some our very unique ones like the camera going all the the way up and down, lossless zoom and the HD mode. And you had some great comments on where Parrot needs to make some improvement through firmware updates. Well done Dustin.

The best thing about this drone is that it doesn't send data to China like the DJI drones.

My ANAFi arrived and I flew it - at my home. Like I said earlier, DJI would not let me fly my Mavic Air at my house, but I had absolutely no problem flying the ANAFI here. It flies great. I was able to transfer my video files via the cable, instead of removing the micro SD card. It wasn't a fast transfer, but all the files made it to my MavBook Pro. When I attached the ANAFI to my laptop, a folder appeared on my desktop (titled NO NAME) and that's where I found the video files. For those wondering, the pathway to the files was: NO NAME folder to DCIM to 100MEDIA. One question though, - How do you make it record in HDR? I never saw an option to turn DHR on and off.

Dustin, just found your video and reviewing it while my batteries charge tonight (came via FedEx today from B&H). Lots of good info. Glad that you also have some comparative experience with other Parrot drones. This is my 3rd (Phantom4 Plus and Mavic Pro being my first two drones). Best video out on KZbin for the Anafi. Thanks.

excellent feature presentation and demo. This is the definitive video so far. All those features that have yet to be explored by me, you answered the questions I have had. Well done. Oh and everyone remember that the app is on v1.0.0 and the drone has only had a couple firmware updates. Parrot will tweak out the minor issues and add features i am fairly certain.

The optical flow sensors don't like the color brown and that's all of them not just parrots, so when it was picking up the brown patches in the grass it might has made it act a little nuts. i know my mavic air hates brown and the mavic pro is not as bad. I am loving this quad myself. great job on the video.

Dustin, if it is like the bebop it will register GPS home wherever the drone was last powered on, unless they have added a controller home option? Do not carry around the drone powered on, or else make sure to restart it from new the location. As for the flight plan it can be edited at the ending way-point, but default last way-point landing is not optimal. Back to home or hover would definitely be much safer. Return to Home: if below twenty meters will rise to that given number and go home, above 20 meters will maintain that flying altitude and return to home. This height can be modified by config files, for the brave only.
@DustinDunnill6 жыл бұрын
Apparently it returns to controller if you do selfie functions during flight. Makes sense now
@johnlcallaway5 жыл бұрын
Nice review, I haven't played with all of the features yet, so this was a great overview. The tutorial says that rth is reset if you either land or use follow me mode. Taking off always sets home to where you take off, that's why the low battery landing went to the other spot. Follow me resets it to the controller location. And, as you discovered, rth won't work if you are already close. These aren't bugs, just design features that the operator needs to be aware of.

I still testing the Parrot Anafi but I can say the Gimbal and Zoom have changed, from my perspective, the way we look from the air the world and even our way of flying with the drone when compared to Bebop 2 or Disco. Thank you very much for the feedback. See you soon, here or in my channel, best regards...

If you are going to take it in a backpack surely you will have it in the case! It looks like it adds no more than 5% to the overall dimensions but stops propellers getting damaged and the drone from switching on. The case looks like one of the best features, slide it into a backpack and the spare battery can go into a pocket somewhere else. Firmware updates needed:- User selection of units: altitude in feet or metres speed in metres/second, Km/H or MPH distance in feet, yards and miles or metres User selection of minimum RTH altitude in both default and per session. Perhaps a warning coming up if you go higher than the RTH altitude (are you avoiding a high obstacle here, should I change the session RTH altitude to account for it too?) A clearer indication of the drone's heading, with an arrowhead over the drone icon or a representation of an Anafi with a white camera front end and a dark grey tail, with the current icon it is hard to tell which way it is facing. Selectable return to home at fixed point or the controller position, with selectable default. Audible warning of low battery level (brief, not nagging) at a user-selected level. Perhaps with a brief unmissably huge message box in a suitably cautionary colour scheme with every 5% drop from whatever you set for your first warning. Could the drone indicate the apparent wind direction? Surely the computer inside knows if it is fighting a wind blowing it to the left or benefitting from a wind in the direction of travel. If in level flight for a while it would be good to be able to bring up extra information as to whether it was experiencing crosswinds, buffeting, headwinds or a tailwind. The DJI app seems to tell you that there is high wind and be careful or really high winds and you should land, which doesn't seem quite as useful and informative as it could be. Is the wind constant or erratic? Is it compromising the ability to get out or back again or is it well within the Anafi's capability? Anyway, I'm just killing time waiting for my Anafi to be delivered.

@matthewsalfer-hobbs40246 жыл бұрын
For the first return to home that happened, I'm pretty sure it had to do with the follow me feature. At least with my bebop 2, when its following me and is locked onto my GPS signal, the return to home point continuously updates to my location. That way, if signal is lost, it will land right by you instead of flying back to where it started (which could be quite a ways away depending on how long its been following).

Always great reviews Dustin! Question for you. I have an anafi and so far really like it but have discovered a fatal flaw. There is no way to monitor battery cell health. The battery will charge and turn the drone on and appear to be OK but may have a bad cell, inevitably causing a stall during flight. Other manufacturers allow battery cell voltage monitoring and will not allow the motors to arm once a cell goes bad but Parrot does not have this feature. Do you know of a way to monitor anafi battery cells? Have you had any issues? I've had Lipo cells go bad in as few as 12 charges. Any info would be appreciated.

I wonder if HDR video mode is doing what some other (Canon SLR?) camera do - take 1 brighter and 1 darker frame (at 2x higher rate) and add them together to make the HDR output frame. Or is it simply modifying the gamma to brighten darker areas (with higher noise). Also wonder if it can take HDR stills - reviewer could not find such an option. Or at least does it have exposure bracketing? Also do not recall seeing panoramic stills option.
