How do you charge this battery?
@oddjobsandrandomprojects11 ай бұрын
@@dennismagee2814 I should have included that info. I use a universal charger for RC cars. It cost like $25. I already had it for some other projects.

These are still great drones even in 2023..I got a new one for $65 and a sky controller 1 for $60 but out of 3 batteries only one is good. I’ve seen quite a few videos where people replaced and retrofit aftermarket batteries, but they’ve all seemed to run out so fast, even with higher numbers quicker than the original batteries. I’m gonna try what you did using the same stuff.. seems to work great for you without discharging in three minutes. I can’t help but wonder if they maintained overtime like they did in your video or if they lost their punch..anyhow appreciate the info!

I'll have to break it out again and do a long term test and update. I don't fly real regularly, but last time I had it out it was still performing well.

Superb, the battery shell you could make from jbweld if bothered. One thing though, ever considered a parachute module? The Bebop is a heavy slug and a stalled motor is kinda scary. Good work modifying it. The XC60 looks a good connector.
@oddjobsandrandomprojects10 ай бұрын
That's a good idea with the battery shell. I've also thought of printing one, but never got around to it. That parachute is a good idea, but I wonder how I'd deploy it?

How do you charge the new battery?
@oddjobsandrandomprojects Жыл бұрын
Good question as I didn't mention that in the video. I had a universal programmable RC battery charger from Tenergy. I had previously used it to recondition the batteries in my Hybrid car.
@SouthernSummoners11 ай бұрын
I bought the 3000 MAH, same brand as yours 11.1 V and found chargers on eBay for around 10 bucks.. I'm gonna try and see how big I can go with the battery, I think it will work as long as you keep it in the 11.1 V range
@oddjobsandrandomprojects11 ай бұрын
It should work, although I did find in my experience that it doesn't add as much run time as you'd think. My guess is it is due to the extra weight, it has to run the motors harder. But let me know what you find out when you try it.

Good video. But can you tell me how many minutes normal flying is it able with this battery? What charger do you use?
@oddjobsandrandomprojects5 ай бұрын
It's been a while since I've gotten it out. But as I recall it was about 15 minutes. It was just a little longer than the original one. I use a Tenergy TB6 RC charger to charge the batteries.

If i buy a battery with an xt60 connector then i can just plug it in the default bebop cable?

I modified the unit to have the xt60 plug. Then I can use the xt60 batteries.

Can you charge the batttery with the drones built in micro usb port

I don't think so. I think it was too connect it to your computer and used for an alternate way to upgrade firmware.

And also how do I know if my battery charger is working for bebop 1 because when I plug the charger in it shows a tiny red light for a second or so and then goes away
@oddjobsandrandomprojects7 ай бұрын
@@speedizhigh2532 I can't remember for sure, but I think that means you have a failing battery. I know that's the trouble I had. That's why I swapped to easier to find replacements. You will have to use a different charger to go with your replacement batteries if you do that. I already had one from a different project so that wasn't a concern to me. You might want to download a manual to your Bebop. It should tell you what the charge lights mean so you can make sure I'm right.

HIE bro, does this type of battery work if l try it on my Bebop 2 (GENS ACE 2200MAH 11.1V 3S 20C MINI SOARING LIPO BATTERY)
@oddjobsandrandomprojects8 ай бұрын
I'm actually not familiar with the Bebop 2. But as long as the voltage matches and 20C is the same or higher than the stock battery there should be no problem. Also you want a battery of similar weight to the original, just so as not to throw of the balance.

I won't say my information is the most current, but that sounds like a great deal to me. It sounds like it has everything you need. I do prefer the sky controller 2, but that's just a preference. I paid more for the most recent ones I bought, and they didn't include all that.

About 10-15 minutes, depending on where and how I fly. Just a touch longer than the original. I'm about to get some new batteries that are higher capacity, and I'll post again with the results.

Also and the easiest way is to buy a Male XT60 to Mini-Tamiya Female Adapter 14awg Wire. That way you don't have to cut or solder anything.
@oddjobsandrandomprojects Жыл бұрын
Good tip, especially considering that my soldering skill is mediocre at best.
@texasuavpilot Жыл бұрын
@@oddjobsandrandomprojects I'm horrible at soldering as well, also by using the adapter you can still use the original lipos, which I think I have like 9 lol. A set of 5 adapter is $8.99. By the way I just flew my Parrot Bebop first time today. I know I'm late to the party.
@williammchugh43616 ай бұрын
Usually, when it comes to batteries like this it's a tradeoff between capacity and discharge rate when it comes to weight. The constant discharge rate of the original Parrot battery is rated Really Low. I don't think I've ever seen a 3S poly battery rated as low as 10C. lol. Someone may want to check weights on possible replacements. For the weight, they may be better off with a slightly higher capacity (or the same) battery with a lower C rating than the one you were using. And, the original Parrot batteries are of bad design. I've flown mine 1 time (really) and one of the original batteries self-discharged and died. I'm thinking that the reason this happens is because that circuit board inside the Parrot battery draws a phantom charge. So the Parrot battery is self-discharging at a far faster rate than a regular lipo. I have lipos that have remained in storage charge for years.
@oddjobsandrandomprojects6 ай бұрын
That explains why I had trouble with all my original batteries. They are just awful, but the drone itself is nice.
