Parrot Bebop Drone Review 2023: Worth the Investment?

The Bebop 2 was and still is a fantastic little drone especially for beginners. It's fast, tough, simple and reliable. The flight plan software is still better than anything DJI or anyone else offers in my opinion and the app is simple and very well laid out. Obviously a 1080p drone won't give you HD video quality but for social media or even KZbin videos it's great. The colors in the auto setting are on point. The real limiting factors for this drone and the reason I upgraded is the range is very limited, like half a mile or less in high interference areas but over clear terrain I have gotten close to a mile.

@@southernafricanboy4148 the autopilot software is better than DJI yes. The App is free but if you want autopilot/flight mapping you have to pay for it , but it's not expensive, maybe 20 American dollars. It's a great little drone. Also handles wind very well.

Nice video, I just started flying mine again after a few years, I used my phone cause the controller battery wouldn’t charge , but it did great. I still like it and it’s footage is on my last KZbin video.

Yeah, will have a browse at the footage, I've seen battery replacements for the controllers, definitely worth getting the controller fixed, there a great bit of kit and extremely cheap now, I did crash it in the last video I did lol but there's so many parts available aswell

@@stealthlineyeah I believe the controller battery for many bebop2 , power, fpv, etc are sometimes just an 18650 with a harness adapter soldered to it? There are available on ebay and or Amazon

I bought one new back when they came out and used it allot,,,then put it away for a few years,,until now and when I got it back out today,,I forgot how to fly it. lol Just tried and the batteries are no good. They charge up but critical fail as soon as I am in the air. Just ordered a new battery. These are the best drone for the money,,I paid $700 for it at that time. Easy to fly,,good controls and distance. The pics and video are great. Ill be flying again soon.

Parrot bebop 2 still has one of the best tracking, in the business. If it would have has optical avoidance. it would come in second only to skydio 2. I own dji s latest and autels latest and it would out tack them both. It was also ahead of its time, currently there is still no drone that can look up and down with out a gimbal. I sold mines I had 3, but now I'm looking to buy a another one cheap lol. I would say yes it is ,if you are not around alot high wifi areas.

Yeah, still going strong in 2023 as a budget and offering great abilities to today's standards, it's a shame parrot announced that its discounting drones on a consumer level due to lack of profit, just shows how much kit you get for the price

@Stealthline Yes it was a shame, they did that, the bebop 2 especially the power model, WAS capable, and it had 4k, and more upgrades, it could have been fantastic.

Hello Mr Kent. Love your Bebop 2 series. I have a question that might even stump you, because it has been a mystery to me. Some time ago, I acquired a used Power Bebop 2 to add to my collection of drones. I love all of the Parrot products. Everything works on the Power bird as expected and so I set it aside for a time until now. I fired it up today and when I read the memory screen I found the unexpected. Instead of the usual 7GB capacity, it registered 28GB available. Hard to believe. Since then I have flown the quad to check the recordings and it counts down from 28GB as expected and if cleared shows a full 28GB available. How can that be? The drone doesn't look to have been altered externally nor does the underside look any different from my other Bebop's. I know there are people who have added external stick drives to increase recording time, but I've never read about anyone changing the onboard memory to something greater than 7GB. So, with your vast experience and discussions with others, what's your take on the large onboard memory? It's just a mystery and I don't plan on doing a hard reboot to see if it goes away. After all, who doesn't wish for 28GB on a Bebop 2? My next question for you has to do with the add on mission planning app from Parrot. Will that app give me a working gps follow me feature in addition to mission planning? I thought I read someplace that Parrot deactivated the follow me feature on the Bebop 2. Is that true? Overall, for the newbies I work with, the Bebop 2 is still the best beginner drone that I recommend because like a famous watch company once said, it can take a beating and keeps on ticking. i bought a new ooen box parrot bebop and sky controller separately for less than 150 bucks on eBay. The batteries were no good but I cut the ends off after taking out the screws from the old batteries that were bloated and ruined from sitting all those years. I bought some 5000 mA r/c batteries from temu for 40 bucks and wired them up to the plug on the old batteries so I didn't have to cut anything from the drone and it runs like a top. I'm really surprised at how good that drone handles and the video is quite impressive too. It amazes me how that camera can look around like it does without a gimbal.. I'm going to buy a few more just to have, they are so cheap and they are nice little drones. I believe I'll be going for the 2 at some point. I've heard nothing but good about them, I've also seen the ones that will do 3-D imaging for around $500 new in the box..

I use the original FreeFlight app by parrot but I now a lot of functions don’t work I.e loggining into your account etc But they have also given free upgrades such as follow functions that used to cost to add but now free

It is, I use it on my android phone, I have a separate android phone for use with front and satnav for the motorbikes

The video noise with these drones is a big issue. You don't have much functionality for editing the light levels.

Totally agree, I find it a good drone to get started with, it’s cheaper enough to see if you actually like flying before leaping into the DJI range or the anfi
