Yes sir-I would like to add to this being very well done. As a retired guy, I would like something like this as a fun hobby. Get me out of the house sort of thing. I have studied over the local rules here in my community as well as my surrounding forest and desert. It would be informative to know how this small craft could handle sudden wind drafts as this is a common occurrence here in Kern County.

Gary Bowen it can fly safely with 25mph winds... but I would avoid it as its cruising speed is about 30mph (full throttle 50mph)... 20mph winds are fine. It is light but powerful, I had 40mph gusts very manageable (by the disco itself).

Great video, thanks for publishing. I picked up my Parrot Disco yesterday (May 25, 2018), here in The UK, they are currently on offer for £299.00 (around $403) to give you an idea of the difference that makes, the price the Disco in The UK was initially around $1,700 . First impressions are good, your video really helped to clear up a few issues that were poorly explained in the manual. Biggest confusion of all was the LED colour references, the manual give three 'flashing' colour references, 'yellow' or 'red' or 'green'; so you can imagine my surprise when it started flashing blue! Fortunately I am quite an experienced flyer so I assumed it was looking for GPS. Both the manual and your video say that a green flashing pitot means that we are good to go; which makes me happy because that is what I see. Thanks again. Happy flying.

So I have been playing around with my Disco and thought I would try an Autonomous flight. I tried to activate it once is was flying but told me I needed to end with a landing waypoint. So I placed one on the map. The mission was flawless but I wanted to take back control rather than have it land. I could adjust the camera, but could not take back control, it did its landing, but I wanted to keep it up and just fly around. Any help would be appreciated.

This is how long it took to get my R/C glow-plug engined plane trimmed, tuned, radio-checked, started and up in the air; 3hrs 25min (with the help of 3 experienced assistants). Flight time was 1min 20sec and I had to dig the engine out of the hole it made in the ground after it's vertical dive, and 5min to break up and dispose of the broken air-frame. Time to recover and clean the dirt out of the engine & remove radio/servers from the plane was 35 min. Time to get back to my car to drive home was 10sec.

Hello everyone I just got the parrot disco but I noticed when I have the aircraft on and connect I cannot control the servos to test if they function. they do move when the disco is booting up but after it’s done booting up the servos shut off I’m afraid to launch it and the plane just keeps going straight is this normal behavior or should I have the ability to move the servos around for testing purposes before launch

Hi Aeroworks, Can you advise the stall speed, maximum structural speed and maximum pitch angle? It's important to know because those to servo connectors of the wings, air foil resistance and of course some stall manoeuvring.

Would you recommend this drone for a beginner? I've never flown airplanes before but I flown a couple of quad copters before. I've watched a lot of videos about this drone and I'm really impressed and I really want to get one. They're going for like 300-350 euro and stock is very limited.

This is a great fixed wing platform to start on. Just give yourself plenty of room on your first flights and you'll be fine. Since Parrot discontinued them, grab them up if you find them at a good price.

Were you able to road test the Parrot Cockpitglasses? I tried mine for the first time today and they worked great. The 'radar' view was very helpful in maintaining the connection between transmitter and aircraft. There was one thing I did not understand, though. There was an incessant vibration that repeated about every 5 seconds or so. I have no idea what caused this and the manual doesn't seem to mention it.

The Roc I bought 2 of them... they are 2700mah battery... wrong advertising. I bought a 3s2p Chinese pack of 18650 il-ion cells for 21€... cut a little bit of internal foam and have now 7000mah onboard... enough.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes Parrot discontinued it. Assuming it was due to low sales. With quadcopters dominating the new drone pilot market, fixed wing drones are typically purchased by those with previous RC flying experience.

Rc pilots didn’t buy it, because they fly from outside... and disco can’t do aerobatics... except with added rc remote... then they won’t pay this amount of money. Drones pilots won’t buy it, because they are willing to make flat videos... not flying. I’m a plane pilot having no time to fly... the disco was made for ME... disco is the BEST plane substitute ever... I added 20€ for 7000mah battery and 8€ for Auriga fpv hud, then 30€ for 4G modem, then I have an outstanding plane allowing me to fly vr /fpv from my home, tens of miles away if I want (no range limits anymore) and for hours if I want... it has headtracking (meaning you look around (up/down, left/right) while flying straight) and send me sms to give me its position in case of loss of connection (which of course will trigger a safe Return To Home). It climbs faster than actual propelled planes... glides down safely without using energy... is less dangerous than any drone I know of. This bird is becoming a legend... there is nothing like it on the market... and there will NEVER be (because of the new regulations worldwide...).

Beefy Beef digital fpv... 480p when recording 1080p and 720p when recording 720p... 50ms latency through 4G (less than that through stock WiFi...). It is better to use Auriga application (8€) with a standard helmet, than Parrots googles... it gives headtracking too.

Beefy Beef when flying stock (integrated long range WiFi), you avoid having other connections in the same time (your phone/tablet should be in « plane » mode). When flying through 4G lte, the disco is connected to the internet... your phone/tablet is connected to the internet too and your skycontroller2 is connected to your phone through WiFi.

Beefy Beef you can pre-load the map at home before the flight. The disco is receiving gps AND glonass signals and gives its position to your phone/tablet in real time (provided you have the connection with it). If the connection is lost, the disco will return home immediately (it will climb to the highest altitude reached during the flight and then head back home) until it can connect again to the skycontroller.... if no connection can be restored it will land at the starting point. You can also have the cellular connection active on your phone/tablet while being connected to the skycontroller2 (through the USB cable)... but you MUST NOT let your phone/tablet connect to the WiFi disco network, as the control range might be dramatically reduced. When using a stock disco (or bebop2), with a skycontroller2, the phone/tablet SHALL have the WiFi turned off.

Excellent review, spot on! I fly the disco myself and it is a blast.The only downside is that parrot is not telling the truth about 1080P, I was able to record in 1080P with the tablet but only 720P in FPV (Goggle) mode.That was with 1.0.3, you have 1.0.5 and it wasnt able to shoot 1080P with the phone, looks like a step back with the upgrade.Gotta test myself in the coming days.

Jean-Michel Koch I have maybe misunderstood but it's impossible to record in 1080p and stream in 1080p. If you want to record in 1080p, your streaming will be 480p and when your streaming is 720p, the record will be 720p as well

MegaNuclearbomb Flashing blue indicates Disco starting up or Disco has detected an error. Restart on a flat surface and do not touch until you get past the blue lights. If it continues you may have a damaged part.

I mean, some days ago I made a flightplan with various waypoints in a total of about 16' flight time. so I went to a plane field in a sunshine day with a wind about 20km/hour in Algarve Portugal. After doing all the procedures, with green flash light in the Disco after loading the fligjtplan i did the start in my iPad screen and I launch the Disco. it climbed to the 50 m of altitude, made 3 turns and took the inicial course. After about 1000m at 50 m altitude (the maximum of terrain about 18 even 20m) I lost the signal in my screen (What is no problem) Ipad it never return and untill today i'm waiting for The.Parrot Disco. What can explain that situation? It was in las 31th March an untill today I can' t find a reason and stay confused. I had bought teh Parrot in 14th March. of course I already made the report to tecnical service of Parrot.

It's auto in the fact that you are not controlling it during take-off. The hand toss or catapult launch is necessary due to the fact that this aircraft has no landing gear.

Dr Sauce Yoid have people willing to pay twice that if they still sold them. Look at eBee X, $24,000 for the same piece of foam, esc and motor. It’s the software and automation that makes it worth it, not the foam and camera.

Not really, all drones eventually drop in price when new models come out. It is a great buy now at that price though. Grab them up before they're gone as the model has been discontinued.
