Great video giving an overview of the Disco, I've mine about two months now, £290 from Amazon warehouse. I was planning on getting a DJI, but this came up and at the price, it really peaked my interest. I'm so glad that I did, it is so satisfying to fly and the amount of interest it generates is great. One thing I note from your vid is the launch process. It should be held by the initial stub of the wing on the main body, not the push in wing itself. I've also unfortunately had my first crash when I didn't take account of the wind direction when launching from a sand dune which result in a 3 inch tear on the aileron. Some well placed 3M tape sorted it, so I'm back in the air already.

I got mine and was excited for 3 yrs to get it, first time out the fucker just took off like a 1 1/2 km away, i had to return it to home then it wasnt doing way points. I think I panicked because it is expensive and it was flying far away but i have only used it the one time and it was in my school yard so need a bigger open space for a fair assesment. I love the whole idea and think I will enjoy it.

it is, we got one when the price dropped and yes it is worth $500 or so usd. I love this wing no myself and as long as your careful you cant go wrong. it does take some room to land though unless you run it in manual mode with a sbus receiver.

Great video painless. I say it's about time parrot came to their senses and priced this thing appropriately. They really had no choice with the proliferation of flight controllers and piloting software available, there was no way sales would survive at over a grand. At around 370.00 USD it is now quite reasonable.

Something not mentioned in the Disco paperwork - my son proved that if you really work at it you can crash this wing - into a large bramble patch on the side of a hill. Looked to be a nightmare to find, but if you crash it there will be a flashing red light on the nose and a loud beeper sounding off. No problem to retrieve and no damage. Well done Lee for buying 1 of these .... had mine a few months now and love it .... it's so safe it's unbelievable... it's a boomerang it keeps coming back .... had mine out 2 3km with full control and stock but only in open non interference space .... now I have the hang of it I want 2 hook up the taranis .... can u do a vid and show us how 2 unlock it's full potential ?? Would love someone with ur pukka teaching experience 2 run us through the setup 2 get her 2 fly manual ... have seen some French dude do it but he don't explain it like u bro ..... With both the Disco and the Bebop 2, I have become a Parrot fan. Everything is well thought out and ready to go. Optical image stabilisation is just way smarter than mechanical gimbals. And Parrot put a lot of thought into making things work well. Highly recommended.

Yes a good buy at £299 from Curry’s - Parrot say an RC tx can be connected via an rx through the Disco controller but their help site was unable to assist with how to programme it. It would be a very good asset to be able to free fly on say a Tiranus or Spectrum TX. Having watched all your videos you could be the man to provide that info - nudge - nudge! I can’t find a link anywhere else. Keep up the good work a very entertaining channel

Painless360 with the RC tx connected you can have a mode switch so you can bypass the CHUCK completely (for acro, flips and whatever else) but then flip the mode switch and get all the auto landing/loiter etc back with CHUCK while you’re still in the air

Great video thanks, I have a disco but weathers been so poor to try it. Can you tell me how slow does the parrot remain airborne when u descelarate to slow it down for landing etc. I've seen a few videos but its hard to gauge the speed its going etc, any help appreciatee

The speed control doesn't actually control the speed directly. The model will speed up and slow down in proportion to the throttle control but will only go so slow as to be safe. So you can't go slow enough when flying normally to stall it - it simply won't let you. Hope that helps..

Yes thanks, prob silly question as I realise it needs stay in the air, just having watched as fee videos with telemetry on the screen and seeing the speed rise and fall etc I just was curious as to the sort of lowest speed to remain airborne and land.I was curious as to when can take Control, I'm sure I read its anytime u move the sticks even before loiter is attained?I was also curious as to a rough indication to take off and loiter radius as the only areas I can fly it have trees on one side , accepted it will be set higher than them obv.as I say any help appreciated.

Hello, I have a question. Like a fixed wing plane, is there a way to check servo and control surface movement before launching the Disco? How do you know if the right stick works correctly before launching the Disco? Holding the Disco with a green to-go light, I see no servo . movement. Is that correct? I would like to confirm proper servo/flap movement before launching the Disco. Thanks.

The glasses are in the box and if you have issues with smart phone then just call it home and it returns to the preset holding pattern, mine ran out of battery on my last flight (it was too bright for my tablet and my other phone was at home but i would have known the battery level if it was hooked up) and it just sort of aimed for the controller and did the smoothest landing it had ever done.

Swing? What model is that? Check out my motor testing and endurance builds for what to look at. There are lots to consider if you are looking for the longest flight times and as much is about the power pack you use... Best of luck!

Would you be able to precision land it manually using a negative minimum altitude setting? I have one lying around that I never dared maiden because I do not trust the auto landing feature to hit the rather tiny area I have available.

With a little space it works great. It lands in about 20 feet. Just bring it into an approach, and when at the start of the grass - hit the land button..

It's down from the original retail price. I won't say cheap because for a foam RC plane you crash every time you land (unless you can catch it, and I've seen people doing that) it never should have been priced so high in the first place. One of the servos broke the first outing I had. Props damaged also the first days flying. I've crashed it into trees and tore the end of one wing and glued that back. Banged into things landing. My min-height was too low when the lag got the better of it. Still goes but. Waiting for a replacement servo now. I was tempted to get another one. At AU$500 it's a pretty good deal but I live in just too harsh an environment so I'm sticking to multi-rotors. I'll stick to this one. Get one if you can people. It's still a lot of fun!

By default, the landing is automatic and started by the take-off/land button. You approach on the line you want to land on and then press the button and it decends. Just before landing it flares and reverses the motor. Very smart. You can land manually but you'd have to fly in manual mode using a traditional reciever connected to the CHUCK controller. Hope that helps..

Can you set up a fixed-wing loaded with Pixhawk and a Herelink HD, fly like the Parrot Disco? The Herelink HD has self centering sticks, just like the Disco. I just received one and am trying to figure out how to make it work with fixed, but I can't find any information on setting up Arduplane to work with a center-sticked radio. great review, i'd been tempted, but not sure of the support now of the Disco, as its basicly a sell out of old stock etc. And I've heard people having problems with parts of the electronics or camera. Have you heard or seen ez-wifibroardcast.... very impressive results using two rpi's, with custom images and a single RPI camera on the wing? With certain cheap wifi usb adapters people are getting upto 8km, so a few km with no signal loss is easy. Learn't alot from your videos, thanks :)

I was about to state this, but thought I'd check it's not already been said. There is no GIMBAL behind that lense. The movement around the image is software trickery. I'm surprised someone of your calibre Painless 360 didn't know this (as its stated in virtually every other video about this plane also the same as the Parrot Bebop).

I know Disco has 2 arm9 cores and 4 gpu (Mali 400 I believe...), then I know it is running Linux and it has the same computing power than a smartphone (which allows it to extract 1080p from a fisheye optics paired with 14Mpixel sensor, simulating a stabilized gimbal at 30 FPS...).

FYI, There are some 3D printable upgrades that I would recommend. 1) Stabilizers (or fins), improves the overall flight stability. Sage Naruto I'd always try and land it in grass (or add a skid or two). It lands itself very neatly, flares and reverses the prop to drop softly to the ground..

Disco were the best plane substitute ever... I found them new in box at 152€ in August, bought 2.... added Auriga head up display application for 8€ (gives vr/fpv with better picture, stereoscopic 3D hud, AND HEADTRACKING (you move your head up/down/left/right and the fpv feed follows where you look...)), then added the 4G modem for 30€ (which gives also a sd-card slot!...), then added a 7000mah Li-ion battery for 21€ (easy 90mn flight time...)... It can climb at 1200ft/mn, faster than 4 seaters planes... Here is what you see/feel while flying it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZiYdZmZorR7ntU Those discos are now legends... there is nothing comparable on the market... and never again...

I was also expecting a little talk about the 4g dongle, how easy it is and how amazing! Does this wing also supports waypoints? Does the autopilot have extra servo ports? (Like pixhawk) Do you thing is possible to install this autopilot in a big wing? (ie fx-79, x-8, etc). And the landing! You didn't say anything about the landing, how cool is that!

Andrés Ábrego hi mate the 4g is epic. I’ve not done that mod yet as got other pojects I’m doin, but I will put a link in for you. Not sure about puttin in did model.? Possibly could. Yes it does have extra ports on the c.h.u.c.k auto pilot. And yes it does have way points on the app that you down load which costs £19.99. 👍🏽
