Nice antique. Having been born in 1952, I grew up around "blinky start" fluorescent lights and they always drove me crazy. Ahhh. I just realized why they drove me bonkers. Just last year, at age 71, I learned I have autism and only just now realized the connection.

The way it blinks without the filaments glowing really bright it's almost like it's being ballasted off a shaded pole motor

These fixtures were common in apartment buildings, dorms, and hospitals back in the day.

Wow! That is an incredibly beautiful 32 watt pre heat circline adapter fluorescent bulb! That is definitely one blink happy light. Also that is a perfect spot for this light fixture as well.

What a beautiful fluorescent adapter fixture this is!! I think this adapter fixture would look great on a ceiling fan that uses a 4 inch shade holder. A couple of years ago, I installed a 2 lamp F20T12 preheat linear fluorescent version of these kitchen fluorescent adapters onto a ceiling fan with a 4 inch shade holder in an apartment I lived in. It certainly gave the light kit a very interesting look. Due to the light kit’s lamp socket sticking out, these kitchen fluorescent adapters were a pain to install onto the ceiling fan, but the work was worth it. Additionally, I also think that this adapter fixture would also look absolutely gorgeous on a pendant light fixture that has a 4 inch shade holder as well.

Thank you! I bet that F20T12 fixture on the ceiling fan did look quite unique!

What an absolutely awesome fixture that is. Just last summer I got my first kitchen unit and it was an absolute pain to find a 4 inch fitter for. Just recently I finally got a period correct fitter from a rental that was being renovated. My fixture is a three lamp F14T12 half pipe style equipped with General Electric ballasts. I have yet to get any circline fixtures, hopefully one day I’ll come across one.

Cool circline kitchen unit! The long lamp clips make it look a little ugly, like my nice looking TiLite wheelchair with red Spinergy LX wheels swapped for heavy and ugly steel spoke wheels off an old chrome hospital chair with long push rim brackets that add that dorky look because the push rims (the bulb in the fixture’s case) put the push rims way too far out. But this would look better with a fatter vintage T 10 bulb instead of the skinny modern T 9 bulb. But aside of that, it is a cool and rare fixture! Most took straight lamps, usually 2 and the 20 watt 24 inch. The aluminum housing indicates either world war 2 era or immediate post war. Circline came out in 1945, so during the war, and only in the 12 inch 32 watt size. Cheers!

Yeah it definitely would look better with a vintage T10 bulb, if I find one I'll install it here. Cool information on around what date it was made, Thank you!

Are these kind of lights supposed to have any kind of covering over the florescent bulbs? I'm just beginning to learn about these and know very little. I have a chrome flush mount ceiling light with bubble glass accent in the kitchen of the house I bought several years ago. It works like a charm, but I've been wondering if it is supposed to have a cover/shade of some sort?
@Parrot175Ай бұрын
Most of these fixtures were designed to show off the circline bulb and thus never had a shade to begin with.

Hello, I found your channel looking for help with my Mercury vapor bulb, it's been in our fixture over 30 years so I can't see what watts it is, it looks like a Westing House 175w when I checked your video but it is hard to tell, any help is appreciated.
