Especially enjoyed this informative video as I have my 1st ever Parrotlet early this year. My little boy now aged 6mths, can talk but really only does this first thing in the morning when he is let out of his cage for the day. He runs through his little repertoire. Trying to increase the vocab is going to take a while! He goes back in his cage for night time. I was advised to check gap between bars on cage budgie cages tend to have wider bar gap than is safe for a parrotlet. Our birds cost considerably less here in the UK than where you live, eg £65 for my cobalt from an experienced and sensible breeder. Interesting to learn about the differences and similarities between Linnies and Parrotlets. Thank you.

@@ParrotBliss I think I am more likely to get a linnie. I have never had any bird in my life (and I am almost 30) and I think that linnies could be better option, since as you said - they have more friendly nature. And I like their vibrant colors too! I would be happy to have one green and one blue in my house. My main concern is their messy poops... You said they are poop machines and I heard that their poops are a bit worse than other parrots, because they are very watery. Maybe because of their diet. Someone said that when they fly their poop can be everywhere - even on the wall. Do you also experience that with your linnies? I also think about cockatiels - they are my must in the future. But when I was watching birds on youtube I saw linnies and learn something about them I thought "Hey! Maybe if it will be okay, I could be a good cockatiel owner, I could have linnies too". I heard that they can get along. But for now I still need to wait for a better moment to have any of them and the only thing that I can do now is watch birds on youtube and learn more about them...
@ParrotBliss
@ParrotBliss 2 жыл бұрын
@@ishakak147 Watching is a great way to enjoy them without the mess! Yes, Linnies poop. I can’t say it’s more watery than a similar-sized parrot. Parrots don’t poop during flight, usually before take-off. Unless they land on the wall, maybe something they can perch on, they only poop where they are perched, of course. So, if you have a pair of Cockatiels and Linnies, you’d be fine. (LOL easy for me to say, I don’t think anything of the poop of 4 small parrots… we do a lot of cleaning, BUT we have a lot more contributors to the mess/droppings here!)
@ishakak147
@ishakak147 2 жыл бұрын
@@ParrotBliss Thank you very much for your answer. Good to know that they shouldn't poo during flight. I am already watching parrot videos for 3 years and probably still at least 2-3 years before I can get any for my own. So I will subscribe to you and keep on watching (your new video too). Keep on doing great job with your parrot content :)

What do u think about the groups who train their parrots to come and they often go in groups and let their parrots fly and sore. Then they call them back and they come back to owner. They seem to be big parrots. One of the reason I haven’t gotten one is I can t wrap my heart around a bird that doesn’t fly
@ParrotBliss
@ParrotBliss 8 ай бұрын
I think there is nothing better for a bird. However, you have to have a lot of time to train for this. I understand it takes over a year, or more, and there is risk of injury or loss. Most people, like myself, don't have the time for this kind of training - or unwilling to risk the bird getting lost, hunted, stolen-

There are different families of conures: most are known for being loud. Golden Conures are a unique species. They were actually first classified as Macaws - interesting - but then were re-classified with deeper DNA/genealogy research (as I understand). Golden Conures can be loud, but I find that it is uncommon. An incredible species and one of my favorites.

I have an opinion question. My wife and I have cockatiel and my wife unfortunately is allergic :(. My wife can't spend as much one on one time with our tiel and I will habdling it mostly. After research Pionus sounds likes the best match temperament wise but I have read conflicting information if they are also a dusty bird. Thanks for this video as I have been looking into Lennies and Plets as well. Do you have any recommendations for parrots that have a temperment like a cockatiel and maybe pionus? My mother in law has a love bird but we found it would be too high energy for our busy lives. Sonething that will enjoy just spending shoulder time as we go about the house.
@ParrotBliss
@ParrotBliss 9 ай бұрын
If your wife is allergic to the Cocateil, then keep in mind that a smaller parrot might be a better idea. If you are keeping the Cocateil, you could add a Linnie. They are sweet and their temperament is similar. At least they are one of the sweetest in all of the parents I have experienced. In any case, keep in mind that they are social animals. If you want a happy bird, you need to have two of a species. They would both spend time on your shoulder.

How is your parrotlet not knawing your cuticles off? My very tame parrotlet mango just constantly knaws at my fingers very sharply unless I’m stroking her. She also nips my neck and if she’s on my head she tries to hang down and eat my eyebrows. Unless i have the time to sit and scritch her or give her treats I can’t have her with me, just chilling. My less tame parrotlet Monty doesn’t fly to me all the time so I can have him out while I’m sat or being busy. I love the linnies.

Toe bitting is a sign that the adult is not happy with the baby. Be very careful and wait for the younger one to get older. Otherwise, the baby will likely get injured or worse- let them be together when you are supervising and they are not in their cages, but rather on common ground.
