Newly retired and thought I would try my hand at re-upholstering our kitchen island chairs. Your videos have been great in helping me learn the techniques. 4 down and 2 to go. I particularly had issues with the oval chair back and working from the top and bottom to the sides but your method worked much better.

what do you think about this chair design? i really don't like it. it looks basic and it's not pretty and on top of that it seems to be more complex to work with than others. uses a lot of fabric for the back part and there's no real benefit because of it. when you handle the chair you will grab on the fabric and the fabric only helps with holding on to dirt. it's more difficult to clean than wood. seems like no upside to this design.

When I first looked at the Parsons chair video I was interested in how to cut the fabric for the front pleats. I missed your back leg cuts. Watched the whole thing and now done 6 chairs. Double piping starts today. Brilliant video and thanks so much for your help and knowledge transfer.

Thankyou for sharing in detail.I am 35 and looking to start getting into woodwork going to try and self teach myself and upholstery is going to be needed.as i want to try and make puffes ottamans for the kids bedrooms.I would absalutely love to see an indepth video on how to do the pleated patterned vertions where you have to cut the holes out in the sponge and add the button.I really hope this make sence as i truly am just starting to get into all this from watching so many woodworking vids over the past couple of months.luckily my hubby did carpentry many years ago so can help along the way in my woodwork projects even though he will be having to refresh his memory along the way whilst helping me.

Remarkable vedio. Very well done. I'm about to redo my parson chairs. The material is still good. But one coshin got snagged. I love the material. But I can't find the same style to replace just the damaged one. So I'm just going to recover all them. Beside the table I'm doing in black base with title top. And a decorative center tile. Which is gray,tan and gold. So I'm going the chairs in a gold striped print. I can't wait to get it all done. I show you the pics if you like

On your wingback chairs I asked about cutting around post but as I'm looking at this Parson chair I got my answer so you don't have to respond to the other one this was a good example of how to fit around the post I don't know if I'm secure enough to use a Sharpie I might use chalk because I don't want to mess up by material but this was a very good example how to cut around the post thank you

I agree with others that you are a talented teacher! I was doing great up until the metal tack strips had to be installed. My parson chair had angles on the side, (not straight edges), and I had a difficult time putting in the metal tack strips. I tried the plexigrip tack strips as well and those were really hard to use with my chair. I guess my question for you is, does the metal strip points go into the upholstery when you use the mallet or the wood frame, cause I couldn't get them to go into the wood? Because of the angle I had, I just decided to staple the back and used a trim that actually tied in well to the material. Thanks for the video!
@ArtisanUpholsteryStudio
@ArtisanUpholsteryStudio 3 жыл бұрын
That’s a great creative solution! Another way to do it is to hand stitch it. The metal tack strips are getting very cheaply made these days, so they may bend and crimp instead of going into hard wood. Very frustrating!
