Old time bag maker here :). Really enjoyed your video and the bag is very cute. I want to know how you made that lovely little pincushion. I've never made one and that one looks like a wonderful way to use small leftover project fabrics! Is it filled with batting, walnut shells? Video idea? Anyway - thank you for the helpful video . .a couple years later :)

Hi really nice video thank you. Would like to know what staple gun you are using? And what size of staples?
@mywithallmyart
@mywithallmyart 3 жыл бұрын
It is a Superbonder All in 1. You can get them at WalMart. www.walmart.com/ip/Fpc-Surebonder-5650-Black-All-In-1-Staple-Gun/21587974. This is NOT an affliate link.You can see the name on it at 4 minutes into the video. The package of the staple gun will tell you what style staples you need. For the length of the staples I use 1/4" to 3/8" depends on the thickness that I need to go thru. Also staples come with blunt tips or pointed tips. I like the pointed (divergent) staples. They are better for older wood. I hope this helps

How many yards of fabric needed for 6 dining chairs? Thank you!
@mywithallmyart
@mywithallmyart 4 жыл бұрын
It depends on several things. The width, the length, and the thickness of the cushions. Allow several inches on all sides for turn under. Take those measurements with you to the fabric stores. They can usually help you with the calculations. Consider the width of the fabric. It can vary from 45 to 56 inches. Also, you will need more if there is a design motif that needs to be centered. I hope this helps

Great advice! Very helpful...Thanks! I was in the middle of working on the same project but so frustrated with the corners. You had a clear technique to get a uniform result. The only thing I’d say is that half the video is off-centered and difficult to make out. The darkness of the material without great lighting didn’t help either. Thanks for zooming in and trying to correct that halfway through. Good job!

Guess I’m looking for even more basic advice... what kind of foam & where you got/get it? How to measure it? Same w/the fabric...
@mywithallmyart
@mywithallmyart 4 жыл бұрын
The foam is upholstery foam. It depends on the chair that you are recovering - use from 1" to 2" thick foam. JoAnn's fabric has it, Walmart or Amazon, of course. Measure the seat length and width. When I removed the wooden seat from the chair, I laid the seat onto the foam and used a felt tip pen to draw the shape. There are several ways to cut the foam, depending on the thickness: sharp razor knife, scissors, or electric knife (for the kitchen and carving a turkey). The electric knife is great for the thicker foam. Also look at my video about covering a round bar stool.

These are affiliate links which means I make a little commission. It won't cost you anymore to buy through these links: 2"x30"x72" this is for really large projects. amzn.to/2SyURRU. Here is a link for 4 Seat Cushion Foam 2"x20"x20" - amzn.to/38Aja7z The fabric needs to be cut about 4" longer on each side. 2" for foam and 2" for wrap around. For example if the chair seat is 18"x18" then I cut my fabric 26"x26". I hope this helps a little bit. Thanks for watching.
