Bio comes from the dutch word Biologisch. Witch means organic/natural/biological. There are no pestisides used on the potatos used for these chips or pests are faught with natural preditors.

Interesting...I knew the root of the word but didn't realize it was to signify that they're organic, thanks!

Biologisch in Dutch means either biological or organic in English. (If you see bio as a prefix to something it’ll mean organic). We don’t use organisch in this sense in Dutch, only bio(logisch). That’s why bio-organic looks like a Dutch-English hybrid to me. And yes, I know biologisch doesn’t make sense as everything you eat/drink is biological. However it makes as much sense as organic because it’s all organic (in a chemistry way) too.

Being from the Netherlands I get so, so tired of seeing these 'upset' people. It's exhausting, really. They know exactly what people mean, so it just seems like being upset for the sake of being upset and offended. Just... feel free to say what you want and let these people be offended in their own little bubble.

AKA holland... so wrong.... Holland is just two provinces (states) and just a part of The Netherlands. However the most sailors came from these states and they were fragmented before uniting, many sailors introduced themselfes as from holland (either north or south) aka Amsterdam or Rotterdam.

‘Bio’ has been a common prefix on food in Germany for decades, it just means organic/natural. Seems logical that their neighbours to the east also use it in the same way.

Bio-organic is a mix of biological and organic. While this basically means the same in English, the Dutch words don't mean the same. 'Biologisch' (biological) means that there is nothing artificial, it's made without fertilizers or pesticides, and things like animal wellbeing and biodiversity are protected while growing - in this case - the potatoes. 'Organisch' (organic) means it was made using only plant- or animal based materials.

Some things you have to suck instead of immediately greedy biting. For some reason English or Americans find it really hard to understand that. I don't know why. Maybe they only have snacks which are so soft you can swallow right away.

AMSTERDAM is our nation's Capital City and is located in the province (of) North-Holland. So someone who lives in Amsterdam can say he/she is from HOLLAND (i.e. North-Holland! BUT the Capital City of North-Holland ISN'T AMSTERDAM, BUT HAARLEM!!! The Residence of our Government is in SOUTH-HOLLAND and the Capital of SOUTH-HOLLAND is DEN HAAG (THE HAGUE, LA HAYA). So, people from both South- and North-Holland can say "I AM FROM HOLLAND and other people outside these parts of our beautiful country: THEY SAY "I'm from the NETHERLANDS!

WRONG never ever say AKA holland. Never confuse 2 provinces of the country with the country. I am Dutch, I am from the Netherlands yes, I will not want to be associated with those 2 provinces at all, at any given time. (And that goes for most people that are not from those 2 provinces) Original depends on the approach. The biscuits are not original, however they may be the only ones allowed to use the protected brand Gouda cheese. So in that way it might be original.
