Those old Briggs with the carb mounted to the tank have a problem with the gasket between the carb and the tank because it has a couple of flapper valves built into the rubber gasket and with time the flappers get crispy. They are readily available for about $12 on eBay.

Very true, right now I'm working on getting consistent spark with new points and condenser, then everything else. Should have part 2 soon hopefully with good sound 😕.

Dude never ever grease a starter clutch you put WD-40 on it
