My dude. Purity seals (formally called “Oaths of moment”) are the little paper things on a Marine’s armour, they literally write shit on those like “I will kill 100 Tau in this battle” on them hahahaha

This is actually lore accurate. In the first Horus heresy novel they put oaths they mean to fulfil in battle on purity seals on their armour. Essentially they are staking their honour on doing their oath, instead of gambling.

Funny thing is, this is actually what's going on. Those seals on their armor are not purity seals usually. They are called "Oaths of Moment" they basically say "During this mission I'll cull this many Tyranid Warriors"

Fun fact a heldrake would actually count as 2! Because heldrakes used to be normal plains with a space marine pilot. But after becoming a demon engine the machine takes control and subsumes the pilot. Every time you hear the screeching of one, that’s the still living pilot screaming for death.

Fun imperium fact: this is what purity seals are. I’m not joking. A chaplain will place a purity seal that says something like “You will behead 50 orks”. As kind of a prediction or something, I don’t remember the exact reason they do this but they do.
