Yeah - what's with the single spray of water (?) before grinding? I have the Breville "dynamic duo" and mainly do espressos. Just load the beans in the grinder and go! 😅 Have a feeling you're several levels above me. I get my beans monthly from The Coffee Company, have my grinding settings recorded - and that's it. 😊

@JSmith73 haha yea its getting pretty elaborate spritsing the beans. It's actually for a few reasons and the science behind it is actually pretty amazing. To complex for me to lay down on our chat here though. I mainly use it to reduce static, but a side product is it slight increases even extraction. Should search YT for James Hoffman on spritsing 😁

@LimitlessHorizonVRSimrigs yeah, it's taken some effort but kind of got there! MTS Hotas left + swiveling right for the VKB GF Ultimate+ STECS, and the Crosswinds on an additional pedal plate on the floor (hard mounted to the rig sides - it has to be fixed) with 1-2mm clearance - and the Sprints on the elevated plate. Plus a bunch of other button boxes, MFDs, a UFC etc, along with a Fanatec shifter and the new HK HB, culminating with the SimCore mount for the DD1 under the integrated quad screen mount. Better not forget the transducers either! It's a crazy hobby all right. 😅

Yea I ant wait to test that and actually see if we gain anything. I get that all the reviewers test in 1080P to actually test the CPU by itself, they show it some test that in 4K you only gain a few FPS, however for us pushing our VR to the extreme, a few frames extra is worth every cent spent.
@vivid_clarity15 күн бұрын

Great choice of topic! hardly ever see comparisons of AMD/Intel or AMD/AMD ect for the flight sim peeps. DCS is a complete CPU Hogg and It would be great to see if the X3d Chips help more than the Higher Hz pure grunt Intels. DCS is not a game it's a physics simulator with all the bullets rockets missiles AI ground and air assets all being calculated using the in game Physics and not a random dice roll it really pushes CPU's to the limit and is definitely in need of more CPU grunt than GPU. MSFS while it does use a lot of CPU power it is more dependant on GPU for it's visuals and does not have to calculate the ballistic trajectories of thousands of bullets and rockets over the entire map like DCS does. Saving up for my own new PC rig and I'm going for the 9950X3D and 5090 when they come out, will probably be March before it's all together so I'm super excited about that, but in the mean time I'm ordering the kit from VPForce for the FFB Rudder conversion of the MFG Crosswinds! Got to keep myself busy after all😜
@LimitlessHorizonVRSimrigs16 күн бұрын
Yea that was what I was finding when looking online, all the test are 1080P and I understand why, they need to actually test just the CPU. We are such a niche in a niche community that this topic does not get the coverage. I might even look at spinning back up my 10900K, a 14900K on a test bench as comparisons.We have the 5090 soon and that is also on my radar. Mate the VPforce rudder conversion looks amazing, will have to let me know how that goes :). Appreciate your input and comments as always mate :)

I have the facebook one, the Oculus Rift. No pluses, no numbers, just the Rift. It works, I used it years ago when I bought it 2nd-hand. Is it a viable headset now, or is it unusable? I could always make a fake facebook acct, I suppose. I was blown away by it, and have a spare water-cooled gaming PC with a pair of VR-ready RX 5700s (flashed XT BIOS on both). Am I in good shape or TSOL? Thanks! P.S.: I'm asking because my wife has never seen VR, and If I could get her onboard, it would be a lot easier to spend that kinda money upgrading past the Rift.
@LimitlessHorizonVRSimrigs15 күн бұрын
Yea mate I think its still viable, having said that though, the software is really good these days like, XR Toolkit and alike to allow us to really push the headsets. Hi, Does it make sense to use a graphic card of the same brand and not a 4090 maybe more compatible with intel CPU ?
@JSmith7315 күн бұрын
That's not quite how it works. Basically, no. The problem is that the Intel CPU can't feed the GPU with a smooth stream of data, it's struggling to keep up. The L3 cache of the 7800X3D can keep most of the critical object data close at hand, so it rarely faces the same constraints - it's just a far more efficient architecture for these kinds of computations.
@jamesm56815 күн бұрын
I personally find using AMD hardware for VR to not be efficient enough. Nvidia matched with a Intel CPU may not produce the best frame rates, but it sure is a whole lot smoother than laggy AMD hardware.
@LimitlessHorizonVRSimrigs15 күн бұрын
What specs are you comparing this to mate? Really interested to know. I am thinking about building a 14900K test bench to also compare the 7800X3D, 9800X3D and the incoming 9950X3D in the new year. From my test here, the 7800X3D seems a better option.
@jamesm56815 күн бұрын
@LimitlessHorizonVRSimrigs I'm going to stick with a 9800X3D as my computer is mainly used for flight simulators. None of the new Intel hardware didn't cut it this time around. A 4090 with a 9800X3D and 64GB of 6400MT/s RAM seems to be the best bet for now.
