This is what makes a real collector (not investor): expertise, a personal relationship with his watches, knowledge of history and passion. Here at the highest level. Thank you, Emil, for giving us this insight.

His collection was unbelievable. We had to cut this interview into two segments because the total run time was over an hour and we couldn't bear to discard any of the discussion; it was that good. Best, Tim

And all of it was meticulously researched firsthand by Emil himself. I can't say I've ever met a collector who spent more personal time documenting the history and scarcity of his vintage watches. Best, Tim

Incredible story on the Longines watch. Does anyone have any suggestions on further reading on different watches, specifically on their heritage (Breitling, Longines, Moser etc)?

I had one 1665 patent pending once, they send some to the Brazilian oil company Petrobras in late 60’s for the divers test it, I regret a lot selling it in late 90’s

great collection but you really didnt do his sea dweller justice. How can you talk about the "patent pending" on the watch so many times and not give a close up of any of it? The caseback, the bracelet, the clasp, the diving extension? None of it. Instead we just get more macro shots of the dial. C'mon Tim's hands on videos are better than that

Watch collecting does not necessarily mean passion for engineering. Passion for watches does not mean passion for engineering, otherwise I’d be at all interested in any number of other engineering feats like cars, industrial machines or what have you.
