Hi, I'm trying to buy a new Epson p6000 but in some places I could read about that this model is locked, is that true? Did you buy your printer new or used? Hope you can answer, thanks. 🙏🏻
@printojr2 жыл бұрын
@@sandsblue1705 I bought mine used, so with the firmware in it, I was able to reset the cartridges and waste tank (but for a limited time). You can only reset the ink cartridges 10 times each. The waste tanks, about 3 times each. So I was able to find my self a 7900 with unlimited resets. But I do still have my P6000 as a back up or job overload. Love running both side by side.

Also how much should we spend on a 7890?
@elegant_edits Жыл бұрын
It would depend on whether the printer is in good shape or if it will need repairs. I've seen them go for as little as $400 and as much as $1500.

How did it work out for you running this printer?
@elegant_edits5 ай бұрын
I've learned a lot since then, and I will have an updated video uploaded to the channel, soon. You don't have to tape the print track down, and I've found that double matte film was the solution to the head strikes, instead of using glossy film. You only need two channels of white, instead of four. The stylus pro series printers are workhorses, if you use quality inks and maintain them properly.

The p6000 is a different animal. While it looks the same, the chips have a finite number of times that they be reset. You'll also need the European version of the 6000 in order to convert it, as there isn't a working chipset for the other versions.
@shelbypatterson5611 Жыл бұрын
Can I do this with my sc7000???
@elegant_edits Жыл бұрын
You won't be able to reset the chips after a finite number of times, due to Epson's new technology. There aren't any ARC chips that work with that model printer, since the main board registers the serials of each chipset that you use.

Do you know someone in the Austin area who works on the 7890. I have the fatal error code 1a39. They say it’s probably the print head but could be the mother board. I need someone to test the motherboard for me.
@elegant_edits Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry for the super late reply. When the printer throws the 1a39 code, it's usually the printhead. I even had an Epson technician tell me that in all his years of servicing Epsons, he's never seen 1a39 error where the printhead wasn't solely the culprit.

would this be the same process for a p6000
@elegant_edits2 жыл бұрын
I don't recommend people buy the p6000, because it has new tech, that registers each time a cartridge is reset and it will eventually lock you out of the printer, unless you use a chip set with different serials. I'm sure they will come up with a decoder at some point, but we aren't there yet---the printer is just so new.
@shaunabriggs61292 жыл бұрын
Have you figured out a good paper margin setting for the 7890. Mine wastes so much film at the beginning of the print. Right now I'm using up the rest of the 13x19 film I have.
@elegant_edits2 жыл бұрын
The key is using your design software to clip to artboard. this will ensure that there is no extra space above your design, before it is sent through the RIP software.
@shaunabriggs61292 жыл бұрын

@elegant_edits3 жыл бұрын
I need to update the description; thank you. I don't want to promote the sponges because they aren't very great, in terms of absorbing the ink. What happens is, the ink seeps directly through the sponge; to the bottom. I am testing these new felt pads. and I will be sharing my experience with these replacements, soon. www.ebay.com/itm/224279205942

Felt pads are lot better, they absorb a lot more, and for emergencies you can always use lady pads (tampons)as well while you wait for your order to be delivered to you.

Brother do you have any idea how to convert a epson sc p6000 to DTF
@elegant_edits3 жыл бұрын
With the P6000, it is the exact same process, as that model replaced the 7890. The only issue would be finding a way to reset the chips and bypass the serial registration of each cart, after the printer recognizes the use count. I would search the groups on Facebook and see if anyone has found a workaround, for this. You also have to make sure the carts do not fall below 30 percent capacity or the chips will be unusable.

@elegant_edits2 жыл бұрын
I bought it from a local seller. We are actually about to start doing a lot of work, together. I know he has 5 other printers that he would like me to convert, so I'll be filming the conversions and selling those printers for him. I will also have my own brand of printers in, and ready to sell, by April/May.

which rip software are you using with your 7890? I use acrorip 10.5 I loose alot of header & footer space on my film.
@elegant_edits2 жыл бұрын
This will happen, no matter which RIP software you use. The best way to combat this (somewhat), would be to clip to artboard, when saving your artwork, so that the print starts at the absolute top edge of your design. you will always lose at least 3" of film with each print. These printers were designed to print for long durations of time, so the best way to save film would actually be to save one large document, with as many designs as you can fit at a time. I also use AcroRip 10.5

@elegant_edits3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about the 9900, but where I would start would be searching the Facebook groups, to see if anyone has found out which driver to use. The Rip software has to support the printer or it's a no-go.

Do these printers like the P6000 need to be Asian or American to work? I heard Asian because of the firmware let’s you reset the chips. Is this true?
@printojr2 жыл бұрын
@@elegant_edits Huh? Maybe I got the wrong answer.
@elegant_edits2 жыл бұрын
Yes. I don't know how it crossed the two responses, when I typed everything. Epson's new technology in the p6000 series limits all models to 21 resets for each serial number, which gets registered by the printer after each use. The printer will require you to use an ARC chip with a different serial number than what has already been logged, after the 21 resets. There isn't a known fix, as of yet.
@printojr2 жыл бұрын
@@elegant_edits So we are able to reset the same chip 21 times, after that just get another one with another serial number and reset it 21 times again? If so, after the 21 resets, does the printer lets you know the chip no longer works or does it lock the system down where you can't even use the printer? Hope it makes sense.
@elegant_edits2 жыл бұрын
@@printojr it will let you know. The only issue you may run into is that you cannot control the chipset that the distributor will send to you. You may be able to contact them; letting them know which serials you already have. I have been telling people to avoid the p6000 and up, for this reason. They may come up with a workaround for this soon, so I wouldn't necessarily discourage you, either.
@printojr2 жыл бұрын
@@elegant_edits Two things: First I know what you mean, and I was able to get my first order through InkjetMall thanks to you, which they offer 10 different serial numbers. So that should give me about 210 resets for now, crossed my fingers everything goes well and someone comes out with another solution. Secondly, I've heard European/China version printers don't have the restriction, only the USA version. According to my serial number, my P6000 is from Europe made in China. Again, will keep my fingers crossed.

There are a lot of factors at play, in terms of your print speed. It could have been the resolution you chose; the size of each design; how the files were prepared; whether you chose unidirectional or bidirectional etc. The printer isn't slow, if all these things are done correctly.
