Thanks for the first video Tony. Why are some preferring Gateway over Ubiquiti or other systems? I have had some hardware problems with Ubiquiti (entire POE switch fail, failure on some ports on a dream machine SE, etc.) I'm getting close to further replace parts in one system or move to another brand decision. It gets expensive with multiple switches, 3 access points, my $350 doorbell.......rewatching your other videos and Willie Howes video-I'm sure the answers to my questions are there. I'm focused on reliability and was a little disappointed in Ubiquiti-but in fairness-its been running for years!
@QuikTechSolutions4 ай бұрын
I can honestly say, my Ubiquiti gear has been solid. However, I never bought into the UDM or UDMPro when they came out. I’ve always used Edgerouters with Unifi switches & access points. My original Unifi US-8-150w switch just died last year. My US-16-150w has a few dead ports as of the last year. But as you said, they’ve been running for quite some time. I made the decision just this week to switch completely to Grandstream in my home once I get done recording all the episodes for this series. I already have the GS access points. Going to replace the Edgerouter 6P with the GCC6010. Just bought the GWN7806P 48 port Layer 2 switch to replace a total of 3 Unifi switches, the Aggregation switch, a 24 port PoE Gen2, and a 24 port Gen2 non Poe. Going to be quite the network overhaul. Thanks again for watching.

Absolutely love the setup tutorials on the 6010 - nice job! I'm trying to decide which Grandstream router to buy and I have a question you may be able to answer: With the 6010, is there any ability to do inter-VLAN tag/untag on the 6010 ROUTING tab, or do I absolutely need the switch to do that? Thanks so much in advance!
@QuikTechSolutions4 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting. I thoroughly enjoyed making this series on the 6010 Home Networking. You can define the VLAN Port Settings on the 6010. Have a great day.

Well made video Tony! Question, would that gear be a good choice for me to establish a LAN for me to access a Reolink camera system on? I'm trying to build an off-grid capable security camera system incase the internet goes down!
@QuikTechSolutions4 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. If your off-grid system includes WiFi, then yes as long as you are within range. However, if the Internet goes down, you have no way of accessing the system remotely. Have a great day.

@@QuikTechSolutions There is no way to create a stand alone, wired system that doesn't require wifi?
@QuikTechSolutions4 ай бұрын
Well if you are at the site & hardwired into the network, you’d be able to hit your camera system. You could use a cellular modem as a back up Internet to your main Internet, and then be able to access the system remotely that way.
@victoryoveroppression20884 ай бұрын
@@QuikTechSolutions Just to clarify, my intention is to create a system that I can only access while on the property, not away from it. I want to be able to sit in front of the TV, or walk around with a tablet and access the camera feeds, and be able to have the system send those devices activity alert notifications.
@QuikTechSolutions4 ай бұрын
Ok, still even if onsite you will need wifi to access from a tablet or other mobile device.

Ok so im building my house, what is the point of all of this? Normally I just have some router from Verizon or whoever for my WiFi and internet. Why do I need all this stuff?
@QuikTechSolutions3 ай бұрын
Hi James, thx for watching. So there are many reasons, but the main reason is security. You have total control of your network traffic when you implement your own internal network. I don’t want to leave this up to my ISP by simply using their equipment. Plus, if you are in the process of building you can wire the home for ethernet wherever you need, plus wire access points around the house for full coverage, avoiding dead spots. Depending on the size of the home, in most cases the provider supplied wifi is inadequate. Have a great day.

Ok, I’m building a 2500sqft metal Barndo with thick spray foam insulation. I’ve ran cat 6 to all the tv locations. And I have a home office so I’ll have a few plugs in there for computers, printers etc. I guess I’m doing a built in cabinet to put my isp WiFi router. I guess I need a switch and this other stuff to make it complete
@pbrigham4 ай бұрын
Gosh, so close, if they had put one or two 2.5 GB poe ports on the Gateways instead of 1 GB, they will be really unique, not even Unifi has that. Gateway and one 2.5GB WIFI6 or 7 access point , and they could really take the home market with a really unique offer.
@QuikTechSolutions4 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! You make a valid point. Keep on mind, you can use SFP6 to connect to a PoE switch with 2.5Gig ethernet ports as an option. Have a great day.
@pbrigham4 ай бұрын
@@QuikTechSolutionsYes I know, but for home users and especially with the 8 + 2 SPF ports gateway you don’t need a Switch, and that is the great value on this brand, other brands don’t put the POE ports on the gateway exactly to force you to buy a switch. Still. This configuration with 1 GB WI-FI access point is great value, is they had 2.5 they will be unique, no one has it.
@QuikTechSolutions4 ай бұрын
You really do make a super valid point can’t disagree! Maybe Grandstream will look into doing something like this in future revisions of the product. They are pretty good about listening to their customers. Have a great weekend and thanks again for watching.

I've had a bad time with grandstream equipment. It's been the cloud managed stuff to be up front, but still wildly less reliable than unifi line imo. There is an also an issue with their smaller AP where it reports offline and crashes with bursts of traffic (like a download). It's known and I believe they still haven't solved it. Pass.

Thanks for watching. Sorry to hear your experience hasn’t been a good one. I haven’t experienced anything like you described as if yet. Hopefully, GS will provide a solution to your issues. Have a great day and thx for taking the time to share.
