“And there’s a Muffin...” MY HEART!! She is precious, and I’m dying over your amazing collection! I have just under 100 plants and am utterly out of space, and yet I still have a list of plants I want to buy. I don’t have any friends who “get it,” so I turn to the PlantTube community- you people are my tribe! Thanks for the video!

So many plants!!! Re the Alocasia Amazonica - don't let it dry out, it likes to stay evenly moist, but needs an open mix for drainage and aeration. I grow most of my tropicals in an approximately equal mix of potting mix, orchid mix and chopped sphagnum moss, often adding a bit of fine pumice if the potting mix I'm using is light on it. (Here in NZ we use pumice as you use perlite.) It makes a light, spongy mix that retains moisture but doesn't get waterlogged.

@LeeDfined
@LeeDfined 6 жыл бұрын
I have 72 and it does become hard to keep up with after a while.
@seamseams
@seamseams 6 жыл бұрын
I have over a hundred and it's not that hard. I go around every morning (takes about 15 minutes) and see what the situation is and water the ones that are in need. And I have like a major watering and checking day maybe once a week (takes like half an hour to an hour). I don't know, I guess I've just gotten used to it. Knowing your plants is also important, because every plant is an individual, every house is different with light, humidity and temperature levels, and the growing medium makes a difference. I usually first look at how the plant looks like (are the leaves drooping or showing some other signs), how the leaves feel like (are they firm and full or do they feel depleted, especially the more succulent types) and most importantly I stick my finger in the pot to see how dry/moist/wet the soil is. You can also feel the weight of the pot by lifting it up. If it is dry, it will be a lot lighter. So you just really have to get to know your plant friends, and you will also gradually develop a feel for how often they need to be watered. I have many that I basically can forget about and some that I need to keep checking a lot more. You'll get the hang of it! :)

I really just let my plants tell me when to be watered. Might sound crazy but I’ve gotten in such a rhythm with them, it’s as if they almost speak to me 😅 However once a month I usually have a bit of an “overhaul” if you will where I check over everything give some plant showers 🚿

Hi, loved the tour! I wanted to mention I think the pothos at 16:18 might be a ‘pearls and jade’ or even possibly a manjula, though I’d lean more towards the first. N’joy typically has almost no “splatter effect” on the leaves, more strictly a mosaic effect.

If you let tap water sit out at least 24 hours before watering the plants, is it true that it is better for the plants (affects the chlorine)? Or is that just a common myth? Also, I am curious--if you didn't live in an apartment and had a yard, would you be equally interested in outdoor plants/trees? :)

Hi! My bedroom is 8x8, very small so even the plants against the back wall get a lot of direct light. I typically recommend growing most plants within 10 feet of a south facing window, 6 from an east or west, and 2 from a north but of course that is very subjective

I was wonder if at 4:22 the variegated plant might be Monstera borsigiana ‘Golden Aureum’? Only a guess 😉🌱✨

Do you fertilize your zamicro? My leaf tips were discoloring similar to your smaller stalks so I fertilized it with orchid (18-8-19 or something) fertilizer and it greener back up

I have both the red prayer plant and green one and use rainwater or distilled on them and the green one keeps getting crispy tips and yellow leaves while the red one is doing amazing, just gave me a flower stalk last week. Really Don’t know what the green one wants from me unless it’s care needs are slightly different somehow 💁🏻‍♀️

Maybe the humidity is too low? I'd recommend misting it twice a day with distilled or rain water

Can you do a video on how to care for hoyas? I can’t seem to keep hoyas alive and I really love them. 😭

Nick, what was the 'tree' next to your sofa/chair? It was the one that you highly recommended and said it was so easy to grow in almost any light condition. I couldn't quite understand the name when you said it on the video. Thanks so much!
